Dear Center for the Arts Friends and Family,
Please do not come here if:
We always strive to provide a welcoming and safe environment at Pittsboro Youth Theater (PYT) and all of our family of arts organizations at the Center for the Arts, Pittsboro. With the current situation regarding COVID-19, we are taking additional steps to keep our facility clean and safe to help protect our patrons, volunteers, students, and staff.
For your safety, we are taking the following precautions:
"Columbinus" performances by the Social Justice Theater of the Carolinas scheduled for March 22nd have been canceled. Those who have purchased tickets will be offered a refund or the opportunity to donate their purchase.
PYT's Spring Break camp is also canceled and we will be contacting those who have signed up.
Our plan at this time is to continue to operate unless government restrictions are put in place to the contrary. More about that in a minute.
Pittsboro Youth Theater's next scheduled performance is "Godspell Jr." scheduled for April 11th and subsequent weekends. Tickets for this performance are not currently on sale. Rehearsals for this and all PYT plays are continuing normally. We will evaluate "Godspell" performances in the near future.
We have received special permission from the publisher of "Godspell, Jr." to videotape the performance(s), if we do not perform the play before a live audience. Performances of other Spring 2020 plays will be confirmed on our website well before originally scheduled performance dates.
Summer camps are happening as scheduled.
Music lessons will continue at the discretion of individual instructors. Contact your instructor or CFTA for music lesson updates.
We are increasing the scope and frequency of facility cleanings with additional sanitizing of light switches, door handles, seats, stage, other surfaces, etc.
All PYT rehearsals will begin each session with mandatory hand washing or use of hand sanitizer. We will encourage smiles and jazz hands as a form of greeting!
Again, our plan at this time is to continue to operate unless government restrictions are put in place to the contrary. If Chatham County Schools close due to COVID-19, PYT and Sweet Bee Caffe will close for the same duration; e.g., discontinue rehearsals and serving the public in the Caffe.
If the Chatham County School District or other governmental restrictions change our method of operation, we have fluid contingency plans that include video conferencing of rehearsals, individual online lessons from Ms. Tammy and other teachers, pushing back performance dates and/or making videos of performances with no live audience. The kids have worked very hard and one way or another, plays will be performed and seen.
In the Meantime...
We encourage all members of our community to:
- Government/medical advice would have you quarantine.
- You or others in your household or circle of contacts show any signs or symptoms that fit the criteria of COVID-19, including:
- fever, and
- dry cough, and
- other symptoms of COVID-19 in combination with the above.
