Volunteers Needed: Staff Appreciation Week
Hello, everyone! Staff Appreciation Week is coming up from May 2—6, and we have some wonderful things planned. The Staff Appreciation Committee budget will be providing some of the items, but we still need your help.

On Monday, May 2 (DATE CHANGE), we want to treat our amazing EMS staff to a sandwich bar, and on Friday, May 6, home-baked goods. Please sign up to help:
Drop off items at the front office by 10 am on the days of the events. Also, please consider donating your time for set-up and clean-up—it's always needed and appreciated. To do this, you must be an approved LWSD volunteer.

Thank you very much! This event wouldn't be possible without your help! If you have any questions, please contact Elena Luican at elena@evergreenptsa.org or 773-517-0382.

First School Dance in 2+ Years—Volunteer With Us!

Breaking news: Dances are returning to EMS after more than two years! Evergreen's ASB is holding its first school dance this year on Friday, May 20 from 7–9 pm.
Volunteers, please join us for an exciting and entertaining night! No set-up or clean-up duty—just show up for quick instructions and rotate around the chaperone stations, or sign up to work the PTSA's concession stand. We also need volunteers during lunch to distribute wristbands to students who plan on attending the dance that evening.
Sign up here to help!
Volunteers must be approved by LWSD and vaccine-verified. Need more information? Contact Trish Miller at trimiller@lwsd.org.

The WMEA Junior All-State concert also featured performances by orchestra and choir students from middle schools across Washington, including EMS. Watch this spot in future issues for more on these Evergreen musicians.

School Lunch Hero Day—May 6
Between preparing healthful food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating food allergies, and offering service with a smile, LWSD's nutrition professionals have a lot on their plates. To recognize School Lunch Hero Day on Friday, May 6, LWSD invites you to take a moment to show our Nutrition Services team members how much they're appreciated! [ more about School Lunch Hero Day]
Some ideas to help make this day special for Evergreen's lunch heroes:
- Ask your student to personally tell their lunch heroes how much they appreciate them.
- Write a thank you note, or make a card, poster or banner.
- Download printable thank you cards. [English | Spanish]
- Donate a book to your school library in their honor. [printable bookplate]
- Promote School Lunch Hero Day on your social media. Scroll down to the bottom of this page for shareable images.
