ATV Rules of the Trail
Sadly, an out of town man lost his life last weekend due to an ATV accident in Stonycreek Twp. near the ATV Park.
PLEASE drive your ATVs safely and wear your helmet.
It is the law, and for good reason.
Shanksville Picnic August 2nd to 3rd
Since 1930 Shanksville has had a Community Picnic. This year it will feature more than a dozen events starting with a Grand Anniversary Parade and Car Cruise Friday at 6:30 p.m. and including an awesome Fireworks Display on Saturday at 9:30 p.m.
This year's Regatta Weekend is renamed the Indian Lake Community Days and will NOT be the weekend of the Shanksville Picnic, but the following weekend instead. This year's event will include more Borough and Community involvement with Fireworks provided by the Service Corp. on Saturday, and Borough subsidy of events coordinated largely by the Marina and other local businesses. We are hopeful the Pirate Ship reappears and look forward to defending our shores against its formidable hot-dog cannon.
More details will be provided as they emerge. Check the Borough web site for updates.
Wake boats can be fun, but they can raise havoc on a small lake. Many communities have regulated or outright prohibited their use. We at Indian Lake are trying to find a 'happy medium'. Mayor Miscoe has 'taken point' on this issue, but Council is well aware of the pros and cons. We have tried to impose existing laws and regulations first, before creating new restrictions of our own. Key to controlling the damage is an understanding that it does occur, what causes it and what you, as an operator of a wake boat can and must do to limit it. It starts with maintaining a distance of at least 200 feet from shore, and from other boats and craft. Please be careful and courteous, and make sure guests who may use your boat are equally so.
