LIVE BOATER SAFETY COURSE OFFERED!
The PA Fish & Boat Commission’s PA Basic Boating Course was developed to supply boaters with practical information so they can make better informed decisions on the water. Instructors provide students with information to help them reduce the risk of injury and conflict on the water.
Boating Safety Education Certificates are required:
- For ANY PERSON operating a personal watercraft (JetSki);
- For persons born on or after January 1, 1982 that operate boats powered by motors greater than 25 horsepower.
While on-line training and testing is available, the Police Department has coordinated with Jim Brockman, who is an approved instructor, to offer a live class. During this class, Chief Bellak will provide a review of Indian Lake specific boater safety rules. This will be an excellent course for all, and even those who are not required to be certified or those already certified are encouraged to attend.
This course will be conducted May 8th at the Marina from 9 am to 5 pm and includes administration of the test required for certification. Those passing the exam will receive a temporary boater safety card. Permanent card will be produced and mailed later. The fee is $30.00 (cash, please). Call the instructor, Jim Brockman, directly at 412-720-2821 to register.
