Reminder - NO Lake Drawdown

Background...

In 2015/2016 the Lake was lowered to allow work on "The Island" at the Marina.  Due to delays in completing work, and anomalous weather, the Lake did not refill by Memorial Day.  We vowed to do everything we could to avoid a recurrence.

We did not lower the Lake in 2016/2017, but planned to in 2017/2018 for necessary roadway/stormwater repairs, but that work never materialized.

After deciding to not lower the Lake in 2017/2018 there was some public outcry as folks had made plans for dock and seawall work.  We revised the plan to lower the Lake from Thanksgiving 2017 to February 23rd, 2018 and to limit the draw-down to 5-6 feet to allow for this planned dock/seawall work.

Based upon input from a wide array of residents and experts, Council has adopted an informal posture that the Lake would be lowered every 3-5 years.

Based on this guideline a Lake drawdown will not occur this year.  One will be considered for the fall of 2020, but 2021 is more likely.
