A couple of important items:

Council Meeting

There will be no Council Meeting September 8th.  All business for September will be conducted at the 2nd scheduled meeting on Wednesday, September 22nd.
Parks & Rec Survey Results

The results are in on the Playground/Athletic Court Survey!  The intent of the survey was to seek residents’ opinion on a community athletic facility.  The Borough Council was asked  to explore building athletic courts and provide additional activities to the community and to the youth.   The Council formed a working group to assess the support for the proposal.  The Council occasionally uses surveys as a tool to gauge community interest and support.  Because we are a diverse community of full timers, renters, and part timers, new and established owners, the working group felt it was prudent to generate an opinion survey to evaluate the level of interest .

The survey results were at best inconclusive, with undeniable polarity; a 'draw' on the level of support. The majority of the 317 respondents had very strong opposing opinions (a rating of 0) or very strong advocacy opinions (a rating of 5), with a valley in the middle.  This polarity impacted nearly every topic and rang loudly in the comments.  The charts are available as a PDF via the link below.

A pickleball court and a playground were the most popular. A picnic area and biking/walking areas were also popular, although we have the James W.  McIntyre Trail and Shoshone Park already.  There was a general consensus that elevated taxes or Service Corp cost were not acceptable and that Council should seek funding or donations to build courts from 'other sources'.

Based on the results, and some very good suggestions in the comments, Council has elected to reconstitute and revitalize our Parks & Recreation Committee.  See the link below for the Parks & Rec Committee web page.  Pam could still use some help and ideas, so contact her if you are interested.

The Committee initially plans to further explore the cost of just a pickleball court and to make a proposal to Council on steps forward including evaluating alternate funding.
Thank you for participating in the survey, your involvement allows us to assess the needs and wants of the community.
