Celebrating the Diversity of SWFM

This holiday season, we'd like to take a moment to celebrate the diversity of this winter market. This is a space that welcomes everyone, no matter if you live in Somerville or not. The Center for Arts at the Armory and the Somerville Winter Farmers Market does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. What makes this market special is that we have a diversity of vendors, customers, food traditions, cultures, staff and volunteers represented here from our community. Please partner with us in fostering a welcoming environment in which everyone is treated with value, dignity, and respect.
Customer Safety at The Market

With increasing COVID cases, we want to affirm that the safety of our community is our first priority. We are in conversation with the City of Somerville Board of Health to ensure that we are proactive in providing a COVID-conscious and responsible market. We made the decision early on that even though the capacity of the Performance Hall is 395 people, we set the market capacity at 150 individuals (including 50 staff and vendors). We have asked our vendors to develop their own individual plans to monitor customer lines at each individual stall and encourage social distancing. We ask each of you to join our efforts to ensure the safety of all. Please read through our COVID Safety Policies below and encourage our community to prioritize the safety of everyone!

1) Customers who are sick, displaying any symptoms of COVID-19, or have been in contact with anyone who has been sick in the past 14 days are asked to stay home.
2) Senior & Immunocompromised reserved shopping time is from 9:30am-10am.
3) Face coverings are required at all times inside the Armory. Customers without a face mask that covers both mouth and nose will not be allowed into the market.
4) We will adhere to a strict capacity limit inside the Hall and set one entrance and one exit. Please enter upstairs through the mezzanine and exit downstairs through the Main Hall.
5) Use hand-sanitizer provided by the Armory upon entrance
6) There will be no eating or drinking allowed inside the market. Please take your food and drink into our cafe before consuming.

Donate to Sustain a More Inclusive Market

During the 2020-21 season, we saw an average of 38 SNAP families each week. Over the course of the entire season, customers spent $20k of their SNAP benefits at the market and we matched $6,239 SNAP dollars. This year, in our first market alone, we had approximately 75 customers and matched $1,134 in SNAP benefits. Food insecurity is on the rise and we need your help.

We invite you, friends and neighbors, to help support our neighbors in this time when access to nutrient-dense and local foods is more important than ever.

$15 = one SNAP match for one family
$60 = SNAP match for one family for one month
$150 = one SNAP match for ten families
$500 = half of the SNAP match funds needed for a typical Saturday farmers market
$1000 = all of the SNAP match funds needed for a typical Saturday Farmers Market
