Public Safety Update
September 23, 2020
Dear neighbor,

Earlier today, several shots were fired in the 4600 block of North Lowell Avenue in the vicinity of Saint Edward’s School. The incident appears to be targeted between known parties. This is unacceptable.

My office worked with the 17th Police District to ensure officers were on-site for school dismissal. We met with Father Dominic Clemente and the school principal.
I spoke with Mayor Lightfoot. She assured me our officers and specialized units will remain in our community.

If you have any information surrounding the event that happened today, please contact Chicago Police Department Area 5 at 312.746.6554. Video footage from Ring Doorbells, any home security cameras, and eye witness accounts can be helpful.

Please join me on Wednesday, September 30th at 6:00 p.m. for a virtual community safety discussion. I am hosting this conversation with the Chicago Police Department's 16th & 17th Districts, the Office of Emergency Management and Communications, and representatives from the Mayor's Office for Public Safety. To attend this virtual meeting, please click here.

Your help in keeping our community safe is crucial. If you see something suspicious, please call 911 immediately.

Very Truly Yours,

Alderman Samantha Nugent
