For every additional person counted, the City of Chicago gains approximately $1,400 that will help fund vital programs and critical infrastructure. This results in an additional $14,000 per person over the ten year Census period. When we do not complete the Census, our voices become diminished at the city, state, and national levels of government. By participating in the Census, you help your community gets its fair share of the more than $675 billion per year in federal funds spent on schools, hospitals, roads, public works, and other vital programs. Additionally, businesses use Census data to decide where to build factories, offices, and stores, which creates jobs.
Only 70% of 39th Ward residents have completed the Census — please make sure you complete the Census and encourage your friends and family to do so as well! We appreciate your partnership in completing the 2020 Census.
Our office will not be open for public office hours this Friday, October 16, 2020. We will be open virtually during normal business hours. If you are in need of assistance, please call us at 773.736.5594 or Ward39@CityofChicago.org.
Stay safe and stay healthy,
Alderman Samantha Nugent
