39th Ward Newsletter
May 6, 2021

Dear Neighbor,

With a rise in residents receiving vaccinations, Chicago is one step closer to normalcy. While there is no official word yet, Dr. Arwady, Chicago Department of Public Health Commissioner, has said she expects block parties will return this summer. My office is accepting block party applications and will submit them when the portal opens. You can fill out a block party application here.

Crews are in the streets and shovels are in the ground across the Ward as construction season begins. The 39th Ward has major infrastructure improvements happening this spring and summer. ChiStreetWork is the City of Chicago's infrastructure map portal that can tell you about the work that is happening on your block and around the neighborhood. Click here to enter your address and see what's happening.

Last week, the City of Chicago issued a Request for Information (RFI) about the City's utility franchise. This RFI will solicit information and ideas to inform the City's planning regarding electricity delivery. The RFI gets us one step closer to reducing emissions and promoting sustainable economic investments. Click here to view the RFI.

I am grateful to all the teachers in the 39th Ward who go above and beyond to educate our students. The challenges of the past year have been unprecedented and unpredictable. This week and every week, we say thank you! Happy Teacher Appreciation Week.

The 39th Ward Public Service Office is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. While the office is open for walk-ins, appointments are encouraged. You can schedule an appointment by calling or emailing our office. Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact us via phone at 773.736.5594 or email Ward39@CityOfChicago.org.

Very truly yours,

Alderman Samantha Nugent
