ATHIKA proposes to explore innovative approaches for technologically advanced training and support that explicitly integrates humanistic concerns, aimed at increasing the successful implementation of ICT – Internet of Things, Big data and Artificial Intelligence integrated into Decision-Support Systems, for the healthcare sector of European companies and ventures.

Stepping into the autumn with new challenges

Welcome to the fall season 🍁 What has shaped our way to this time?
2021 ATHIKA spring/summer school season was intensive: full of knowledge, practical challenges, and inspiring solutions. More than 180 students from Europe joined the online training and gained knowledge in IoT, AI and Ethics and Governance in the eHealth. Also, 3 intensive international online workshops were organized. Moreover, international mobilities in Barcelona and Grenoble were arranged: students were challenged to apply the acquired knowledge by implementing a pretotype organised in multidisciplinary teams.

We hope that 2021 fall/winter knowledge season will be fruitful and will empower us to share the knowledge and grow the health-tech related network!

TempID: smart thermometer that can be attached to the body and measures and monitors body temperature

Healthtech solution that makes a difference! Meet TempID. Paired with an app, users can analyse and log their temperature readings and, in future, communicate directly with their care provider. We clearly needed a product that would make life easier – the measurement process itself and keeping an eye on the course of a fever. Convenience for home users, patients and doctors.

Easy vaccine distribution app: private sector helping to overcome the crisis

Estonian logistics startup Sixfold and a team of volunteers created an application to help distribute the COVID-19 vaccines to family doctors. The creators of the app helped the Estonian government and Estonian Health Insurance Fund (Haigekassa) for free as a part of a cooperation project between public and private sector.

BrachyDOSE: innovative cancer treatment quality control system

BrachyDOSE is a tool that enables oncology doctors to provide more accurate and successful treatments in high dose brachytherapy procedures for breast, cervical and prostate cancer patients. The device measures radiation dose during brachytherapy procedures to provide scientifically based data directly to treatment planning software to reduce under and over dosing.
