Jerks With Homes

Jerks With Homes: How to deal with members of the public who are being jerks about homeless folks is a live, 1-hour seminar by Ryan Dowd. Some of the issues covered in this live 1-hour seminar will be:
  • How to sort out bigotry from “legitimate” concerns.
  • How flight attendants can teach you a valuable skill.
  • How to combat the dehumanization of people.
When: Thursday, July 23 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Central time

A recording will be available on a few days after the live event. Since Wisconsin has a current statewide membership for this training package, staff in our libraries can take this webinar at no additional cost.

Safe, Welcome, and Respected: Social Injustice in Our Libraries and Communities

“'Wisconsin public libraries are places where everyone should be safe, welcomed, and respected' is a core value of the Inclusive Services Statement, an interpretation of Wis. Stat. sec. 43.24(2)(k). Right now, amidst this period of turbulence and activism, it is difficult to imagine libraries being safe, welcoming, and respectful when so many have been hurt, unwelcomed, and disrespected by our society. Now is the time to take action, on every level, to move this philosophy into practice."
