WLA Announces New Membership Payment Option

Wisconsin Library Association logoYou can now pay your annual WLA membership dues on a monthly payment plan! Instead of submitting a one-time annual payment, you can now submit a payment each month. Your membership dues will still be calculated based on your annual salary.

If you would like to switch to this payment option, email Hannah at bunting@wisconsinlibraries.org.

Sunsetting of the OverDrive App

OverDrive announced at their Digipalooza conference that they will be sunsetting the OverDrive app.

For the first step, OverDrive will remove the OverDrive app from the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Microsoft Store in February 2022.

How this initial change will impact users:
  • Current OverDrive app users can continue to use the app.
  • New users looking for the OverDrive app will be directed to Libby.
  • All users can continue to use, borrow, and open titles from your library’s OverDrive website via a browser.
OverDrive recommends that all partners actively promote Libby and remove references to the OverDrive app from library websites and promotional materials.

Please bookmark this page on the Resource Center, as it provides an overview of the app sunset plan, FAQs, Libby promotional materials, recommended best practices, and more. OverDrive recommends using this resource to start updating your library’s website links, digital resource pages, and marketing materials to solely point readers to Libby.

Beanstack is likely being used at many students’ public libraries, in which case they may be able to link their school and library accounts, offering new opportunities to collaborate with your local public librarians.
