As we begin the holiday season with a time of Thanksgiving, I encourage you all to spend some time sitting in gratitude. If we think too long and hard about the pandemic, it feels insurmountable. Yet just outside our window the morning frost glistens as the day begins and we are given the opportunity to start again.
All that we are facing is difficult, to be sure. But amidst whatever else is going on in the world, there is also the most beautiful kindness and a sense of collective camaraderie. We are lucky to be a part of that. One team brought together to support one another through this process. There is something quite beautiful about that and I hope we remember that feeling when this has all passed.
In the meantime, please take care. Seek out joy where you can, stay connected to what nourishes you, and enjoy your days of giving thanks.

WPLC Digital Library Patron Survey
WPLC recently launched its annual patron survey. A link to the survey can be found on the top of the homepage for Wisconsin's Digital Library OverDrive mobile and desktop sites, so users on computers and mobile devices using the OverDrive app can find it. Unfortunately, WPLC is still unable to add a link to the survey in Libby.
The survey is open through December 4th. Please encourage your patrons to respond by sharing the survey link, https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/wplc2020, to your websites and social media accounts and by displaying printed signs in your libraries.
The Wisconsin Association of Public Libraries (WAPL) virtual conference in May 2021 will share success stories, ideas, and plans for the future around WLA's conference theme, "Library Strong!"
WLA needs a few more volunteers for its conference planning committee. Would you like to gain experience in conference planning, work with fun and dedicated WLA members from across the state, and help put together an engaging and informative conference for our Wisconsin public library community? Contact conference chair Teresa Schmidt at director@mercerpubliclibrary.org or 715-476-2366.
