WLA Support Staff and Circulation Services Paralibrarian of the Year Award


The Wisconsin Library Association (WLA) Paralibrarian of the Year Award recognizes the essential role of paralibrarians, including all library support staff who do not currently have an MLIS, in providing excellent library service in Wisconsin. This award places special emphasis on efforts to further the role of paralibrarians and library support staff in the library profession.

Tails and Tales Summer Reading Program with David HB Drake


Folksinger and storyteller David HB Drake presents “Animal Faire” - a menagerie of songs for the whole family!

To celebrate the Summer 2021 Reading Program, “Tails and Tales”, David is “Going to the Zoo” to visit “My Rhinoceros” and go “Waltzing with Bears” at “The Animal Faire”. Magical beasts like “Puff the Magic Dragon” play with “Jennifer’s Rabbit” in songs performed on guitar, concertina, banjo, dulcimer, and Native American flute.

David HB Drake has been called “the real thing” – a musician and historian with 40 year of experience performing throughout the Midwest.

The keynote speaker, Megan McGee from Ex Fabula, will highlight the conference theme of Risk + Reward through her talk: Taking Risks: Connecting through Real Stories.

WAPL 2021 Annual Conference Registration is Open

The WAPL 2021 Committee is finalizing an engaging conference scheduled to take place Tuesday, May 4 - 7, 2021 (9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily).

With a theme of LIBRARY STRONG, the goal of this year’s four day conference is that attendees will leave feeling emboldened, connected, and strengthened in their library work.

"The African Studies Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is pleased to offer public libraries throughout Wisconsin the opportunity to enrich their collections with new titles. Libraries across the state are invited to submit proposals to purchase books and materials that will enable Wisconsin readers to deepen their understanding of Africa..."

ALSC New Membership Funding for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)


To align with the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC)’s strategic objective of increasing the intentional recruitment and retention of a diverse membership while reducing barriers to participation, ALSC is funding the memberships of 10 BIPOC library students and 10 paraprofessionals/library support staff (current position or position held within the last year) who want to become more involved with our organization and within the children’s services profession.

Please apply by April 12, 2021.
