A note from the Wisconsin Library Association:

Governor Tony Evers is helping Wisconsin libraries celebrate National Library Card Sign-Up Month with a special proclamation. This press release was distributed yesterday. As you develop promotions for your own community, please feel free to share this information.

The WLA office wants to know how you are promoting National Library Card Sign-up Month in your community. Please send your stories, promotional materials, etc. to sauser@wisconsinlibraries.org.

Brown County Library, a 9 branch county-wide library system, is currently taking applications for a Library Manager. They are looking for an innovative and creative leader who has experience developing responsive programming and dynamic services for library patrons. This manager will oversee two locations: their Kress Family branch in De Pere, and their Wrightstown branch. Besides leading a team of 13 staff members, this supervisor will also be a member of the larger management team at Brown County Library, ensuring that library services are deployed consistently throughout the county.

Learn from experts without having to travel! Tech Days 2021 is a two-day webinar series, and there’s still time to register.

There is no fee to attend Tech Days, thanks to sponsorship by all 16 library systems and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Public Library Development Team, with funding support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

ALA Connect Live with LIS Students


ALA Connect Live!Join WLA on September 23, 2021, for their September program when ALA President Patty Wong will share with LIS students the continuing growth opportunities through ALA. The program will feature national, well-known speakers with their perspectives on how LIS education can be a rewarding career path and a current LIS student will share how LIS can help shape and influence the future diverse workforce of the profession.

Ample time will be available for a rich conversation with President Patty Wong and other speakers. Built upon the success of the LIS Student Segment program in November 2020, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
