NEWSLETTER UPDATE

This supplement to the weekly newsletter features new actions, including several marking the Feb. 24 anniversary of Russia's war on Ukraine. For Ukraine-related actions outside of NYC and DC, check Razom for Ukraine's Instagram.

NOTE: With all in-person events, you don't have to participate in the entire action to contribute. You are welcome to leave early, come late, or just walk by to take photos and amplify the activists on social media.

Actions for February 23 - 27

THURSDAY, FEB. 23
UKRAINE ACTIONS - NYC

3 PM: Gathering in Asser Levy Park, Brooklyn.
7 PM: Candlelight vigil outside the Russian consulate at E. 91st, between 5th and Madison.

OTHER ACTIONS

5 PM - 6 PM: Immigration vigil. Grand Central Terminal near the info booth. Join Rise and Resist for a silent vigil saying seeking asylum is not a crime.
6 PM - 7 PM: Join a call for the Release Aging People in Prison/RAPP Campaign new member orientation. Register here.

FRIDAY, FEB. 24
UKRAINE ACTIONS - NYC

8 AM: Ukrainian flag raising ceremony, Bowling Green Park, Broadway and Whitehall Street.
10 AM: Protest, Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza, 47th between 1st and 2nd.
8 PM: Commemoration of 365 days of war, Times Square (near the red steps), Broadway and 46th.

OTHER ACTIONS - NYC

12 PM: Protest AIG for insuring fossil-fuel projects. A kid-friendly and colorful action. Meet at 50th, between 6th and 7th, and proceeding to 1271 6th Ave.
7 PM: Meeting to stop Eric Adams' austerity budget. RSVP for Zoom.

SATURDAY, FEB. 25
UKRAINE ACTION - DC

2 PM: Rally at Lincoln Memorial

MONDAY, FEB. 27
END POLICE VIOLENCE

6 PM, NYC: Freedom Agenda zoom orientation and introduction to the campaign to close Rikers Island. Register here.
NATIONAL: No matter where you live, there are easy actions you can take (calls to make, emails to send) to demand an end to police violence. This Google doc has options for NYC, Atlanta, Memphis, and beyond.
