KAMEN invites applications from artists and art-related researchers from all disciplines to develop their work at the residency by the Bileća lake in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Residents can apply for a period of 4 to 12 weeks during the season of May 1st to October 31st.
We welcome ongoing as well as outcome-oriented projects, and are fond of experimental and interdisciplinary practices. KAMEN’s community is international, multi-disciplinary and critically engaged. Residents are supported with accommodation, a studio, a local guide, discursive engagement, and possible collaborations with our diverse group of partners in the region. With these partners we can facilitate presentations or collaborations, according to the resident’s particular needs – for instance with the nearby Museum of Herzegovina, contemporary art gallery KC and/or the local art academy. As well we collaborate with local groups of practitioners and research projects. For more information, please visit: http://kamen-artistresidency.com/region/
KAMEN's ecology is communal and intimately connected to its surroundings. We have a commitment to sustainability, grow most of our own food and offer a stretch of land for residents to enjoy and work with. When lake Bileća’s water levels lower throughout the season, the ruins of flooded villages become revealed and reachable on foot. As well, the region offers many small towns, ancient monasteries, cultural ceremonies, dam projects, caves, sinkholes, underground rivers and more to visit.
Every year, about 10 places at KAMEN become available. We are currently seeking residents for the period of May to October 2020. We recommend a stay of 8 weeks. You can apply by sending an application by the 1st of March 2020. Find out more information here: http://kamen-artistresidency.com/apply/
