1579 was the year that the Girardin family first planted vines in the Santenay region of Burgundy - and thus began a 13-generation dynasty that looks set for many more.

With uncle Vincent Girardin firmly at the top of his game - Justin Girardin has seamlessly assumed the reins from his father Jacques at Domaine Girardin. I guess nothing beats good winemaking DNA...

We have just landed his 2021 Estate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Vielles Vignes with prices at $40 - making these assuredly the best value Burgundy you will see from a producer of this stature.

Along with the 2020`s we also have his range of Premier Cru releases from Chassagne Montrachet as well as his Santenay labels. With the Santenay's priced from $75 net - the value for quality at this loftier level is astounding...

When drinking from Santenay - look for intensely flavoured reds that lean into roses, licorice and violets. There will be some wild berry action like mulberry at the back end and tannins are firm but extremely supple.

Whilst its exciting enough that we have both the 2020 and 2021releases on board now - its the small parcels of 1er Cru 2019`s that will really get your trigger fingers itching over the Big Red Button. This vintage is all but done and dusted in the wine cellars of Burgundy and its a coup to have this additional back-vintage range available here today...

We have listed the 2019`s below with the whole range available behind the Big Red Button.

Justin Girardin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie 2019

Jasper Morris MW 88/100
Deeper crimson colour. Rather a solid nose, less floral, a dark raspberry style of fruit, one new barrel in three, which only really shows at the finish, bringing in a more lactic element and a few wood tannins.

Justin Girardin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot 2019 JM 90

The palate however delivers a special depth of dark red cherry, a certain ripeness, just within the lines, without the heat taking over. Tasted: February 2021. Jasper Morris

Justin Girardin Santenay 1er Cru Beauregard 2019 (WE 93)

Wine Enthusiast 93 points.

Jasper Morris 91 points.
Attractive lively purple, Justin thinks this is the vineyard which shows best early on. Deep ripe cherry nose, but staying fresh, full fruited, with a fine intensity of fruit, few tannins, and just the right acidity. Appealing in three to five years.
