As of day one of Level 4 Lock-down, all of our day programmes have been cancelled until further notice.

Our team at Pou Whakaaro will still be providing essential support to the those we support and the wider community during this lock-down period. Although our doors are closed to the public, the team are available via phone, email, or text if anybody needs support.

Please follow our Facebook page as we will be posting daily updates as well as sharing important information for our vulnerable community.

If you are feeling unwell at all, even if you think it is just a cough or cold, stay at home.

Pou Whakaaro has been a part of the Eastern Bay Community for over 30 years, providing various support services. We have gotten through some tough times together including floods, earthquakes, and more recently, a volcanic eruption. Our staff have been there with you, offering mental health support and providing essential goods to get through.

Now, as a community, we face our toughest challenge yet as we battle COVID-19. The coronavirus pandemic has put stress on our mental health and physical wellbeing, but we are proud of how our community is managing Lockdown. 

We would like to assure everyone that our team is working hard behind the scenes and we are pleased to be providing essential services to our community. 

We are in continual contact with the people we partner to ensure their needs are being looked after. We are also distributing meals, connecting people with local support services as well as planning services in preparation for post-lockdown needs.

During the Covid-19 lockdown the Whakatane Salvation Army Food Bank is still operating. People can ring 073086923 (available between 10am - 2pm, Monday to Friday), where they will be interviewed via phone and then asked to collect from the premises at an arranged time.

You will need to sign up, but it is a very simple process and you have the option to sign up with your Facebook or Google account. 

You should first make sure you have all of your education and work experience details. Once you have these you can enter your details at the prompts. The whole process is simple and Careers NZ also offers tips along the way.

Once you have finished you have the option of downloading in an editable word format or a pdf version. You can also send a Word or PDF version to an email.
