WORSHIP SUNDAY JUNE 13
This Sunday, after 14 long months, our building and our sanctuary finally reopen. We hope you'll plan to join us for our celebration of worship as we share in music, prayer, story and supper.  Suzanne Shay will serve as worship leader, Pastor Brian will bring the message, and guest pianist Jason Jasper (serving in Beth McLenaghan's absence) will lead our music. After a long time of separation from this sacred space, we'll ponder this Sunday the meaning of sabbath -- of time off with God -- and wonder what sort of sabbath Gods' Spirit is calling us to next.

If  you cannot join us at the building, our online service premieres as usual on You Tube at 10:45 AM and can be experienced at the same link any time after that. You will always find the link for the most current online worship service pinned to the top of our page on Facebook.
VOLUNTEERS NEED FOR ROYAL FAMILY KIDS MINISTRY
Royal Family Kids Camp, our annual summer camp outreach to local at-risk children, is almost here...and we could use your help!  Camp is held at a near-by campgrounds June 20-25. We are in need of volunteers to help with registration, serve as prayer partners with our staff, assist with the birthday party and carnival, help with clean-up on the last day, and more. Sign up to volunteer at worship this Sunday or contact camp co-directors Theresa Pinson and Tyson Huff-Garza.
Join our denomination's National Convocation online for a Juneteenth 2021 observance as we celebrate African American Disciples history, music, poetry, faith, and freedom!

Saturday, June 19 at  1PM.   Learn more at here.
REGISTER FOR CHURCH CAMP 2021
1st Christian offers full scholarships for any of our children and youth who would like attend any of the many regional church camps our denomination is sponsoring this summer. For more information on camp descriptions and dates go here. Once you have registered online, contact Kenny in the office so he can arrange for registration payment from the church to the regional office.

The theme for our denomination's online June 27, 2021 Pride worship service is Transforming the Story. The service will particularly celebrate and uplift our trans and non-binary siblings. Additionally, the service will emphasize the power of storytelling as a transformative tool toward advancing justice. Worship participants will be encouraged to reflect on our own experiences and challenged to transform the ways in which we participate in a white-centered society. Together, we can transform the narrative of injustice and work to write the next chapter of liberation.

Pride worship will be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube. Learn more here

Interested in becoming part of our tech ministry, either for our online presence (shooting video, editing, social media posting, etc.) or for our in-house presence (sound, lighting, "stage design" of the sanctuary, etc.)? If so, please contact Pastor Brian or Kenny Crawford to learn more. Volunteers are needed now, more than ever, as we strive to maintain both our online and in-person ministry presence.
It's so easy to give online to support our ministries.  Either use this direct link or simply download the free Tithe.ly app to your phone, tablet or computer. Then select our church by name or zip code (64501), connect your bank or credit account and start giving. Use the drop down menu on our Tithe.ly app to let us know which fund or ministry you are supporting (and consider checking the box labeled "cover fees" to help us cover the processing fees.)
