As we wrap up the final days of the year, it brings me a great deal of happiness to know that we made it through this year with so much support from you; our donors and our volunteers, our partners. We look forward to 2021 with a renewed sense of community, holding faith that no matter what challenge comes our way, we can continue the important work of sustaining health and well-being to the families and individuals in most need, here in our home of western Nevada County.

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO SPONSOR A FAMILY FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Many thanks to everyone who has already contributed to Sponsor a Family for the Holidays. This year was expensive for our food budget, due to Covid. With an overall increase in families, we also gave out more food than we have in prior years per family. In addition, we also experienced increase in food costs. The money raised goes to use immediately, especially during the holidays as we continue our regular grocery distributions, but also include the holiday groceries for each family as well.
You can still make a contribution towards the expenses of the holiday food program. You can donate online or mail your check to IFM 440 Henderson st. Grass Valley, Ca. 95945. We also have a Facebook fundraiser for those who wish to share their fundraising efforts with their network during the holidays. Thank you so very much!
THANKS TO OUR VOLUNTEERS FOR ANOTHER GREAT HOLIDAY DISTRIBUTION SEASON
We would like to give a warm thanks to our volunteers who every day make IFM's work possible. We have volunteers on all fronts who join us from various churches and organizations, some are board members and others simply come independently wanting to make a difference in their community.
During this holiday season, we had volunteers join us from Hospitality House, American Heritage Girls, Ladies Relief Society, Acme Robots, and Briarpatch- just to name a few. Thinking of doing something good for the community while having fun? Come on down to IFM; we always need the extra hands. Fill out an online application and some one will reach you within a couple of days to get you started.
CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS AND A VISIT FROM SANTA MADE IFM's HOLIDAY DISTRIBUTION EXTRA FUN AND HEARTWARMING
We want to give a special thanks to Kyra Kelley, Cathy Love, and Kari Gaul of Grass Valley United Methodist Church for teaming up with other gracious volunteers and contributors from around the globe to create these very festive and delightful Christmas stockings, full of goodies for the children at our distributions.
In addition, Rick and Rita Kahil, board members of IFM dressed up as Santa Claus and Santa's Elf to help distribute the stockings with the Ladies Relief Society. These are the little touches of warmth and kindness that make something like getting in line for food during a very tough year, less stressful and more joyful. We couldn't thank you enough for your creative and generous deeds!
TWIN CITIES AND IFM DRIVE THRU FOOD DRIVE COLLABORATION IS A SUCCESS IN 2020 AND WILL CONTINUE NEXT YEAR
We have reported that throughout the year of 2020 Twin Cities has ramped up its efforts to hold monthly food drives for IFM, bringing in at least 30K lbs. of non perishable food to IFM this year!
Pastor John recently came by IFM with a check for over $1000 in donations to IFM and let us know some of his plan for Twin Cities Drive Thru Food Drives in 2021,
"It’s so cool seeing our church continuing to give, even with all the challenges so many of them face. We also made IFM the recipient of our quarterly special offering and we wanted to schedule food drives through the first few months of 2021, as we plan to keep them going even if it’s cold and stormy, with the following dates set for:
April 16 (3rd Friday)
Thanks, and God bless you and the IFM team and ministry!" said Pastor John Fairchild.
Thank you, Pastor John and Twin Cities Church for this monumental effort especially during our community's time of elevated need. We can't do it without you and look forward to another great year partnering with you to help local families in need.
Thanking our Community Partners and Contributors
We want to take a moment to thank Sierra Harvest and the Gold Country Gleaners for helping us provide 22K lbs of fresh local fruits and vegetables to IFM recipients this year. This effort is absolutely essential to our food distributions and we look forward to another whole-sum year in gleans for 2021. Thank you, Sierra Harvest! Find out more in this short video.
In fact, in January IFM will be the CAUSE recipient at the register throughout the month of January, where you can round up all your purchase and the difference goes to IFM! Thanks so much to all the business contributors large and small, your help matters! This has not been an easy year for anyone and to see businesses step up and help their neighbors in need is noble and admirable indeed. On behalf of our over 8,000 IFM clients and 500 volunteers, we thank you!
We hope you and your family are enjoying your Christmas holiday. We look forward to seeing you in 2021 with many new and exciting updates on programs, staff members, and new partnerships all committed to ensuring that not a single person feels the hurt of hunger as we face the Covid reality in our communities.
