FEEDING FAMILIES, FUELING HOPE
THE VIRTUAL IFM BENEFIT CONCERT IS NEXT WEEKEND SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th 3-5PM!
Phil Alonso, IFM Executive Director speaks about IFM's upcoming events.
Interfaith Food Ministry is pleased to announce
its 1st annual benefit concert; Feeding Families, Fueling Hope.
The concert will be live streamed online via Youtube and Facebook on Saturday, September 12th, 2020 from 3PM-5PM with performances by local bands Boston Ravine, The Heifer Belles, and The Public String Band (otherwise known as Daring Coyotes), plus other special guests. Look for the link on IFM's facebook page or website to link to the livestream concert.
September is an important month for IFM because it is designated internationally as Hunger Action Month, a month where people are reminded to take actions to end hunger in their communities by volunteering, donating funds or food, or simply raising awareness toward food insecurity. In addition, IFM kicks off its holiday food program fundraising campaigns in September, where all funds raised for the rest of the year go toward feeding families in need during the holidays.
Last year bluegrass band, Boston Ravine’s 14 year old member Mei Lin Heirendt held a small benefit concert for IFM at the historic Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Grass Valley, CA. All the proceeds went to feeding local families in need. The community loved the performance and a new tradition was born.
IFM celebrates 33 years in 2020 with the support of our 16 church community partners, many who have been with IFM since the beginning. The common goal of feeding the community shared by many faiths and religious beliefs coming together is one that IFM identifies with and shares proudly with our members and neighbors.
We want to thank our dear church community partners who exemplify unity and giving during times of crisis and every year for the last 33 years in a myriad of ways, to those less fortunate in our community and beyond.
Would you like your church to get involved as a supporting congregation to IFM's work in the community? Speak to your pastor or church board about joining IFM's mission and connect with us to get more information on what that entails.

TAKING A MOMENT TO THANK OUR STELLAR
COVID VOLUNTEERS IN 2020!
IFM has traditionally held a volunteer appreciation luncheon for all volunteers during the summer. Unfortunately, due to Covid that event was cancelled. It's no secret that IFM is proudly, a 99% volunteer run non-profit organization and has been for its 33 years of operation. This is truly remarkable and unique, but what is even more remarkable is the fact that we continue to be supported by the selfless acts of these amazing people in our community, no matter the challenges. We want to take a moment to thank our volunteers who have supported us through the years. We understand many have had to, understandably step back for safety concerns and many continue to help behind the scenes in other ways. We miss everyone and look forward to the day we can see you all again.
Many long time IFM volunteers have also continued to be here throughout Covid. While many are totally new to IFM, only after hearing about our need for help this year. We welcome all the new volunteers with open arms and thank you all who have been here with us through one of the toughest years to date. We appreciate you and everything you do for our community; every single one of you. We hope to have mentioned all of our Covid volunteers, but if we missed you, please forgive us. God bless.

Dale Roddy Sings the IFM Blues at Feeding Families Fueling Hope Benefit Concert
Next Saturday, September 12th.
Almost a year ago we shared the story of a gentleman who has received supplemental groceries at IFM throughout the years. His name is Dale Roddy, he's a talented busker in our town and can be seen playing music at Sierra Medical Clinic or BriarPatch on most days. He's been a folk musician for nearly his whole life and while life has had its ups and downs, he finds joy in simple things like visiting IFM and playing his music. Check out the video (shot by G12 Productions). Dale Roddy will make a special appearance next week on Feeding Families, Fueling Hope IMF's virtual

We are excited to announce a new partnership with the Friendship Club of Nevada County! Through a grant made possible by Homeless Housing and Prevention (HHAP), the Friendship Club and IFM plan to partner to make sure FCC clients have all their food needs addressed in the coming year. An extended food pantry at FCC's new kitchen has been discussed and currently, in the works is a commercial food dehydrator that was purchased by IFM and is stored and to be used at the FCC. Food preservation methods will be explored and the plan will be to teach the youngsters at FCC how to use it.
UNITED WAY AND IFM PARTNER TO EXPAND HIGH SCHOOL PANTRY AT THREE HIGH SCHOOLS THIS FALL
Interfaith Food Ministry is pleased to announce it's expanded partnership with United Way for additional high school food pantries this Fall in order to help the growing needs of students and their families during Covid. During the Spring the first food pantry at Nevada Union was of opened; it was soon decided that an additional two high schools would offer the same service with the help of IFM and United Way. In addition, UW will have packing and storage space at the Beam Center, which is right next door to IFM and will make it very easy for the partnering agencies to work together to prepare the distributions for the three high school pantries! UW has already been operating Food Access Saturdays at IFM where UW volunteers distribute food to families every second Saturday for those who are unable to come in during the work week.
