Congratulations Class of 2021!

Newsletter // June 2021

Dear ESIS Community,

Here we are at the end of the academic year. We made it! Congratulations to all the staff and students for safely and successfully completing the academic year on campus.

The standard of work throughout the year has been breath-taking, and seeing the students so excited by and proud of their final projects made my heart sing!

A big congratulations to our 12th grade students, who all graduated successfully. It was wonderful to see so many of our students’ family members at their Graduation Ceremony, and I was delighted that we could be on campus together.

In addition, I need to say a huge THANK YOU to 3 of our teachers who will not be returning next September.

Mr. Eric Garibay
IB PYP Teacher

Eric’s students loved every minute in class with him and I know they will miss him terribly. We wish him all the best as he heads back to the US.
Ms. Laura Garcia
Catalan Teacher
Laura is an exceptional teacher. She taught Catalan, Ciences Sociales and Spanish and her students adored her. She will be greatly missed and we hope to lure her back into the classroom in the near future.

Mr. Raúl Santamaría
Math and Science Teacher

Raúl was an integral part of our math and science department. He is hoping to study for his Doctorate in the coming academic year, and we wish him well for the future.

We wish all 3 of them all the best with their future endeavors.

That is it for this academic year. We wish all of you a very happy, healthy summer break. Please encourage your children to read their summer reading books, and we look forward to hearing about all of their adventures when we return on Monday, August 30th.

Thank you for your continued support,

5th Graders Tackle Big Issues

On Tuesday, June 15th, the 5th grade elementary students presented their final project exhibition related to the Unit of Inquiry: Sharing the Planet. The exhibition is the culminating, collaborative experience in the final year of the IB Primary Years Programme. Students were asked to explore, document, and share their understanding of an issue of personal significance.

Fifth graders thought deeply about their ideas and explored topics ranging from fast fashion, plastic pollution, and the environmental impact of war. They created detailed presentations and demonstrated ways that we can take action to help solve these serious issues. We are very proud of the effort they put into their projects and the empathy and compassion they express for different cultures around the world.

Honoring the Class of 2021

On Thursday, June 10th, a celebration was held to congratulate the Class of 2021 on completion of a successful school year. Teachers and the Leadership Team organized a special meal for the seniors and enjoyed some appetizers with them beforehand. Ms. Rose gave a short speech and teachers had the opportunity to spend some time chatting with the seniors for one of the last times.

The next week, on June 18th, the Class of 2021 was honored again at their Graduation Ceremony. Emilio Sanchez, our founder, gave an inspirational speech. "Life is about making decisions. You have the values and the passion. You are ready for the next stage of life." This is true for each of the students in this year's graduating class. We know they will do great things!

The teachers and the Leadership Team pay careful attention to the actions and words of each student throughout the semester. They look for and highlight the ways the students uphold and exemplify our school values. Every semester students are awarded for their hard work, dedication, and consistency with a specialized certificate.  It is always a challenging decision because each and every student can be commended for their growth and achievement this year. With that said, we are proud to announce the Student Awards winners of Spring 2021!
