Crossbill Extravaganza

Upcoming field trips
Male White-winged Crossbill by Sandy Podulka/Macaulay Library.
It's the Year of the Crossbill! With the great cone crop and irruption of both crossbills this winter, this is the year to get crossbills into the Atlas. We're organizing finch walks in suitable habitat statewide, and we hope you'll join us. We're also likely to encounter a number of other early nesting species on these trips, so there will be plenty to keep us entertained!

Upcoming finch trips (details below):
  • 4/3 - Chautauqua & Cattaraugus Counties (Alejandra Lewandowski)
  • 4/9 - Central NY/Chenango County (Matt Young)
  • 4/13 - Western ADKs (Alejandra Lewandowski)
  • 4/16 - St Lawrence County (Jeff Bolsinger)
  • 4/22 - Catskills/Sullivan County (Wendy Tocci)
  • 4/23 - Albany County (Zack Schwartz-Weinstein)
