Diocesan Deputation Prepares for 80th General Convention

The 80th General Convention of The Episcopal Church will be held in Baltimore, Maryland this summer from July 6-14. Our current deputation, consisting of lay and clergy delegates, was elected at our Diocesan Convention in February 2020 is hard at work preparing for the almost two-week long event. Last week they met at Camp McDowell in Alabama for the Province IV Synod. Province IV is the largest of the nine provinces of The Episcopal Church, and it includes 20 dioceses in nine southeastern states.

Synod is a chance to review matters that will come before General Convention, as well as hold elections for the Province IV officers and clergy representatives to Executive Council. From our diocese, Annie Jacobs was part of the group as Province IV Episcopal Church Women President. Tess Judge was elected as Treasurer for Province IV, and Joan Geizler-Ludlum was elected secretary.

You can learn more about General Convention including the schedule, worship events, legislation that will be reviewed, and how to take part in hearings that will occur virtually over the next few months at Of note this year is that a new President and Vice President will be elected for the House of Deputies.
