The African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) Grants Affiliate Status to the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC)

We are pleased to announce that Ethiopian Human Rights Commission has become the second African national human rights institution (NHRI) to be granted affiliate status by the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child for its work in protecting & promoting children’s rights in Ethiopia.

Advocating for Dedicated UN instrument on the Rights of Older Persons

EHRC is taking part in the twelfth session of the United Nations Open-Ended Working Group on Aging (OEWGA 12) taking place at the UN Headquarters in New York from April 11 to 14, 2022 and where member state delegates, National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) from around the world, civil society organizations (CSOs) and independent experts are participating.

Ensuring businesses are socially sustainable

EHRC is taking part in the 4th Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) happening in Banjul, the Gambia, on 12 and 13 April 2022. Themed “Integrating the Protect, Respect and Remedy Framework to Business and Human Rights in Africa, as a Lever towards the Acceleration of Human, Social, and Economic Capital Development”, the forum brought together representatives from NHRIs across the continent.

Danish Institute of Human Rights Visits the Commission

EHRC had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from its partner the Danish Human Rights Institution (DIHR) and discuss the progress the Commission has made over the past two years- including in terms of implementing its reforms. The DIHR delegation was joined by representatives from GIZ and the Embassies in Ethiopia of Denmark, Germany, Norway and the United Kingdom.

የኢትዮጵያ መገናኛ ብዙኃን ባለሙያዎች ማኅበር ከተመሰረተበት ጊዜ ጀምሮ አስተዋጽኦ ላደረጉ የተለያዩ ተቋማትና ግለሰቦች ሚያዚያ 08 ቀን 2014 ዓ.ም. የምስጋና እና የዕውቅና መስጫ መርሐ ግብር አሰናድቶ ነበር።

Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is an independent federal state body established as per the Federal Constitution and reporting to House of People’s Representatives as a national human rights institution with the mandate for promotion and protection of human rights. (Article 55/14 of FDRE Constitution cum Proclamation No. 210/2000, as amended by Proclamation No. 1224/2020)
