The Weekly: October 22, 2020

Our outdoor screening series isn't over yet- we still have one more scheduled movie & one rain check- but as they're both sold out screenings, we're well aware that the proverbial fat lady is going through her vocal warmups.

These screenings have gone better than we ever could have imagined. We only had one rain delay, no enormous A/V issues, people came to every screening, no one (that we know of) froze that badly.

We were 0% equipped to show movies outside, literally we had no equipment to be able to simultaneously project sound and video outside of the theater. William Dever of Harena Data generously donated his screen & projector to make that happen. Attempting to show movies in our parking lot or Spades Park meant we'd have to choose between having space or electricity. IndyFringe had both, and has hosted us graciously every week this fall. We didn't know if people would be interested in sitting outside in October, and yet you sold out almost every screening.

So! Thank you Bill Dever and Pauliene, Justin, Lee, Eric and Brittany of IndyFringe for making this possible. Thank you to our captain, Louise Henderson. Thank you to Abby Spect for your smooth operator status, Daniel Jacobson for the movies and some last minute MacGuyver skills, Annie Blaine and Peggy McIntosh for the skilled thermometer-bouncer work. Thank you to Clayton Hamilton for your brilliant film series. Thank you to Lauren McGraw and Gabe Basile for running the bar on night 1 and making our King Dough screenings happen. (ps: if you're coming to Shaun of the Dead, order a pizza!

But most of all, thank you to you for showing up, buying popcorn, bringing blankets, tagging us in your happy photos, and sharing a little joy together before the hibernation hits again. It's good to be reminded of what we're working for here.

Heeeeeeeeeeere's an opportunity to support local art!

You know what's scarier than being trapped at the Overlook Hotel? Not being able to open because of a global pandemic. (Though this may be recency bias) (and working for Stanley Kubrick is no joke)

If you can, please consider contributing to the Indianapolis Film Project, the engine that powers the (currently virtual) Kan-Kan and our staff. Every little bit counts: whether your donation is $5, $50, or just sharing the work of the Kan-Kan & IFP with someone in your life. Gift cards for future visits (Kan-Kan or Brasserie!) are also available.

Every little bit helps out the Indianapolis Film Project, the engine that powers the (currently virtual) Kan-Kan and our staff. Your contributions means the world to us. We cannot wait to welcome you to our corner of Windsor Park, and really appreciate your support and attention while we wait.
