October 2nd: International Walk and Roll to School Day
International Walk and Roll to School Day

This Wednesday, October 2 is International Walk and Roll to School Day, and before school we will be passing out color-changing mood pencils to all students who walk, roll, or carpool to school! Also, all students will indicate how they got to school on a mode chart -- this year we'll have mode charts at BOTH the main entrance and by Kids Care. We need a few volunteers at the various school entrances from about 7:40 a.m. - 8:10 a.m. If you're able to help us out, it's a lot of fun (and we use the mode chart data for grant proposals for sidewalk funding)!

Sign up here or email with any questions. Thanks!
Join the School Site Council and Help Shape Stanton's Future

The School Site Council (SSC) is composed of an equal number of parents and staff members and meets 4 times per year. SSC is the ideal place to bring suggestions for program improvement. Our Single Plan for Student Achievement and related budget expenditures are overseen by the SSC. This program is designed by parents and staff and provides instructional assistants, instructional materials and teacher training. These funds benefit every student at Stanton.

If you are interested in joining the School Site Council, please contact Ms Duncan at the office before September 27th.
You can get t-shirts & tickets for the walk-a-thon at the SPA store!
From the 5th Grade Affairs Committee

To all 5th Grade Parents
We are trying to rally some parents together for a 5th grade affairs meeting - we are meeting on Monday, September 23rd at 6:30 pm at JP's Restaurant in CV.

Please join us to brainstorm and start the planning process for the 5th grade festivities.  We will need to create a committee and decide on fundraising events and other ideas to raise money.  We have lots to talk about from fundraising efforts, 5th grade ceramic tiles, special yearbook pages to help create as well as filed trips, year end party plans, and much more.

If you are interested, please join us on Monday, 9/23 or email Chrissy Becerra at

Thank you!

Garden Work Party Success!!
Thank you to the families that came out on Saturday to our 1st Garden Work Party. It was quite warm but we were able to finish our sheet mulching project by the green house by reusing mulch that was once at the Kindergarten Play Structure.

Many thanks to the Gervin Family (Darius -3), the Irasusta Family (Olivia - rm. 5) and the Amato-Haun Family (Vanessa- rm.3) and Mr. Morgan (Mrs. Morgan's husband) for giving up part of their Saturday to help maintain our wonderful school garden

Our school garden is always in need of volunteers & new ideas to get more Stanton students and families involved.  We NEED more families to help keep our garden going! Time in the garden helps students learn more about gardening and caring for the environment.  Please contact if think you might be interested.

Stanton Garden Open House – Sept 25 (6 to 7pm)
Please come visit Stanton's wonderful School Garden.  Explore the garden and go on a scavenger hunt while you are at it.  Enjoy a nice glass of lemonade and find out how you can become more a part of the school garden and the Stanton Parent Association.
Castro Valley Outreach (CVO) is a non-profit organization temporarily helping CVUSD families during the holidays with a Thanksgiving food box, holiday gifts, and a Christmas tree (if desired). The application to apply for assistance is currently open and they are due on or before 9/27/19. Once families apply, they will be contacted by telephone from CVO to confirm acceptance to the program with further instructions.

Please click here to apply for assistance.

If you would like to help CVO this season by donating canned foods, buying holiday gifts, or volunteering your time, contact our school CVO representative, Chrissy Becerra, or our school secretary.
