Happy New Year

Happy New Year! 2023 is a big one, as we celebrate 75 years since the start of the Warrnambool Theatre Company. We will be sharing stories, performing songs from key productions and celebrating our history at a special night in November at the Lighthouse Theatre. More details to come. 

NIDA courses 

NIDA is coming to Warrnambool to deliver courses in Acting and Design in Performance for young people aged 15 - 18 in February 2023. Book your spot by clicking the buttons below. 

Acting is an introduction to a broad range of fundamental acting skills through practical workshop exercises. Participants will explore improvisation, spontaneity, physicality and the key principles of the Stanislavski system. Explore the application of technique using a variety of texts.

Design in Performance is an introduction to the principles of creating design concepts for the stage. Participants will develop original costume and set design ideas and learn simple construction techniques. Explore your visual understanding of theatre in a practical context.

Wizard of OZ - July 2023

Work is proceeding on the yellow brick road in preparation for The Warrnambool Theatre Company and Holiday Actors' production of L. Frank Baum's beloved tale The Wizard of Oz in our Lighthouse Theatre.

Congratulations to the Directorial team, consisting of Heather Goddard - Director, Maja Pearson - Vocal Director, Dean Mulholland - Musical Director, Melissa Dance - Choreographer, Vanessa Parkinson - Assistant Director and Greta Punch - Creative Designer and Puppet Master, who have already begun planning. Watch this space for information about auditions and how to be involved behind the scenes. 

A stellar Directorial team is all set to take audiences over the rainbow in July. 

Wizard of Oz Information Day

Come along to the Wizard of Oz Information Day on 19 Feb from 1-3pm at the Lighthouse Theatre to learn about the production, how to audition for the cast and how to be part of the production teams. At the session, prospective cast will learn the audition song, choreography, acting experts and understand the audition process. 

An information pack, backing tracks, music and choreography video will be available on the Warrnambool Theatre Company and Holiday Actors websites in the coming weeks.

Shrek a success

WTC congratulates all involved on and off stage in Holiday Actors’ production of Shrek. A visual and auditory spectacular, the show was breathtaking. It was fantastic to see this show finally take to the stage and to enjoy a close to sold out season. Well done!

Ian Stenlake workshop

The Lighthouse Theatre are welcoming Ian Stenlake for a  FREE musical theatre workshop on 14 February at 4:30pm. 

Ian Stenlake is one of the most sought after performers in Australian film, television and theatre. He is perhaps best known for his lead role as Mike Flynn in the Nine Network’s Sea Patrol and five seasons of the hit series, Stingers for Nine. Ian’s Musical Theatre career is extensive, having starred in the national tour of Georgy Girl, as John Ashby, Guys & Dolls as Skye Masterson, Truth, Beauty & A Picture of You, The Pajama Game and Songs For A New World to name a few.

Most recently, Ian has performed in the national tour of Mamma Mia! the Musical for which he received a Helpmann award nomination for best actor in a Leading Role in musical in 2018. Some of his other Theatre credits include the role of Phileaus Fogg in Ellis Productions tour of Around the World in 80 Days, Caress/Ache for Griffin Theatre Company, Daylight Saving for Darlinghurst Theatre Company, The School of the Arts for QTC, and Sleeping Beauty for Malthouse Theatre.

Ian will deliver a free workshop, where he will talk about his journey into Acting and what it is like to be an Actor/Musical Theatre Star. Ian will then allow participants to ask questions, and then they can choose to perform or sing for Ian in order to receive positive feedback, pointers and encouragement.
