Celebrating Women: Le Grand Courtâge ELEVATE Initiative
In celebration of Women’s History Month Le Grand Courtâge (LGC) is excited to announce ELEVATE, its annual grant, mentorship and giveback program created to support women entrepreneurs. Spearheaded by proprietor Tawnya Falkner, ELEVATE will include a rotation of partners and projects throughout the year to address the challenges and needs of women. Core to LGC’s mission is giving back and helping the next generation of women and entrepreneurs succeed and excel!

LGC's Spring 2023 grant partner is Ladies Who Launch (LWL), a mission driven, 501(c)3 non-profit that empowers women and non-binary entrepreneurs to scale the businesses of their dreams. They do this by providing access to educational resources, capital programs, and community.
Le Grand Courtâge is an independent female owned and managed French wine brand. “Since launching my brand, my goal has been to spread positivity through our wines, help elevate our community, and to find ways to give back each year,” said Falkner. “I personally know how difficult it can be for female (identifying) entrepreneurs and the stats continue to show the unique challenges women face. By teaming up with similarly minded partners and pooling our financial resources, intellectual capital and networking communities, we will be able to provide meaningful immediate and longer-term support.”
If you or someone you know may be interested in applying to the Ladies Who Launch Launch Program, click here to apply and help spread the word! Applications are open now through March 31, 2023. To register for Ladies Who Launch's free Pathways to Capital Event on March 29 in Denver click here.
Celebrating Women: Drink This
Chamisal San Luis Obispo Pinot Noir
Light ruby in color, this Pinot Noir is expressive on the nose with vibrant notes of cherry, raspberry, and cinnamon. On the palate, the wine is bright and juicy with light tannins and a fresh finish.

SWW Asks Brianne: What Is Your Superpower?
My superpower is my intuition. It is easy to make wine by following a recipe of chemistry numbers but that does not always make an interesting wine. Years of experience tasting and making wines has built my confidence in decision making and following my gut even when sometimes the numbers don’t always agree. This has ultimately led to the wines I’m most proud of. It’s those types of decisions that is part of the artistry of winemaking which often results in more compelling wines. Brianne Engles, Winemaker for Chamisal.
Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc + Viognier
Crisp, bright, and vivacious! The Chenin aromatics bring citrus characters of lime, orange blossom, honey suckle, ginger, and melon. The viognier aromatics tend to be a little heavier on stone fruit of nectarine and peach with hints of floral characters. The mouthfeel is clean, crisp with no oak or malolactic fermentation.

SWW Asks Colleen: What Is Your Superpower?
I have a superpower of teleportation. Chenin Blanc + Viognier is a dynamic wine to make and I am able to be where I need to be at the right place, right time to weave together these unique varieties to create a tapestry of flavor and aromas that are inspiring and easy to enjoy. Working with Chenin Blanc and Viognier, I also get to go a lot of different places and meet a lot of different people in their winemaking journey. Colleen FitzGerald, Winemaker for Pine Ridge.
Ketcham Vineyard Pinot Noir
On the nose, there are floral bouquets & deep notes of black cherry, strawberry jam, cocoa beans, nutmeg and cloves. Raspberry jam, citrus rind, notes of spices and toasty caramelization will fill the taste buds.

SWW Asks Allie and Tammi: What Is Your Combined Superpower?
We both spend the day juggling work, life and kids. So by the evening we know what we want to drink…and we make it by turning the terroir of the vineyard into art in the glass!  Allie Ketcham is the proprietor and Tami Collins is the winemaker.

Amarone Amore!
J.C. Vines at Amarone Opera Prima 2023
Christopher Ruhland, Author of “Press for Champagne” recently tweeted, “whenever I drink Amarone, I think, I should drink more amarone.”  #SAME. Truer words were never tweeted. I broke my own rule, “save no wine,“  and reserved Amarone  for special occasions. I served it when I wanted to introduce my friends to something special or for birthdays.
Drinking Wine In Its Birthplace Hits Different
Earlier this year, I was invited by Valpolicella Consorzio Tutela Vini to the  Amarone Opera Prima, a two day event held in Verona, Italy. This celebration introduced the 2018 Amarone vintage to wine industry professionals and press. Hosted at the Gran Guardia building in the center of Verona, the celebration included;  a press conference, gala, master class, self guided tasting and meet the winemaker trade and public experiences. All activities with the single goal to familiarize guests with 2018 Amarone vintage and  the 64 producers who took part in Amarone Opera Prima 2023.
