Title:  Improving the Vaccination Experience: Accessible Vaccination for Neurodiverse People at Any Age
Date:  Tuesday, December 13, 2022 @ 1pm
Location:  Virtual

People with autism and other developmental disabilities have lower childhood immunization rates than their peers without autism, leaving them vulnerable to many vaccine-preventable diseases. The vaccination visit can be especially stressful for these families. Effective strategies exist to reduce pain and anxiety during the vaccination visit.

Please join Immunize.org and experts from the Autism Society on December 13 at 1:00 p.m. (ET) for a free, live, 1-hour webinar, Improving the Vaccination Experience: Accessible Vaccination for Neurodiverse People at Any Age. In this webinar, we will learn more about the Autism Society’s practical tips to improve vaccine confidence by employing strategies to reduce stress when vaccinating neurodiverse patients.

Click the form above to register now for this important educational session.

If you work in a facility where neurodiverse people receive vaccines, you will want to learn more from our speakers:

  • Danielle Hall, MSW; Program Manager, Vaccine Education Initiative, Autism Society
  • Allie Tasche, BEd, MSLOD; Director of National Programs, Autism Society
  • Kelly L. Moore, MD, MPH; President and CEO, Immunize.org
  • Sharon G. Humiston, MD, MPH; Director for Research, Immunize.org; Quinn’s mother

After the presentation, time is reserved for your questions.

Title: MCAAP Immunization Initiative Webinar Series: Trial and Error in Undoing Vaccine Misinformation in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community
Date:
December 15th, 2022 @ 12pm EST
Location: Virtual

Join the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (MCAAP) for a webinar on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 12:00 ET titled Trial and Error in Undoing Vaccine Misinformation in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish Community.  Blima Marcus and Tobi Ash, Co-Founders of the EMES Initiative, will be presenting.  The EMES (Engaging in Medical Education and Sensitivity) initiative is a nonprofit organization founded by a group of dedicated, concerned, and highly educated nurses. EMES began in response to the measles outbreak in the ultra Orthodox Jewish community of New York City and New York State and the recognized need for increased health literacy in the Orthodox Jewish community.  The nurses of EMES recognize the value of health education, promotion, and prevention.

This fascinating and timely presentation is relevant to all adult and pediatric vaccine providers working with vaccine hesitant populations, particularly those in insular communities.

Presenters:  Blima Marcus, DNP, RN, ANP-BC, OCN, and Tobi Ash, MBA, BSN, RN, Co-Founders, EMES Initiative

At the conclusion of the program, the participant should be able to:
  • Provide a portrait of the Orthodox Jewish community
  • Provide an overview of health trends & barriers to care in this community
  • Discuss efforts in targeting overall misinformation and providing information
  • Describe recommendations for improved vaccine confidence and uptake in insular communities

Title: COVID-19 Update: Clinical Guidance and Patient Education for Bivalent COVID-19 Vaccines
Date: December 13th, 2022 @ 2PM ET
Location: Virtual

COVID-19 vaccination provides protection against serious illness and outcomes associated with COVID-19, including emergency department or urgent care visits, hospitalizations, and death. Bivalent COVID-19 vaccines, containing original and Omicron BA.4/5 spike protein components, help restore protection that has waned since previous vaccination.

During this COCA Call, presenters will discuss updates on bivalent vaccines including the most recent vaccine effectiveness data, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s clinical guidance for bivalent vaccines, and strategies for communicating with patients about COVID-19 vaccination.
