Welcome Our New Board Member  📣

Lalit (Bee) Bharadwaj

After our AGM last week, we have welcomed a new VP Junior - Lalit Bharadwaj also well know as Bee! Bee has been a long time Saint since 2013 playing on our Sr Men’s team as well as helping with multiple Junior teams throughout the years. He always make an effort to be involved and help with any Saints social event. Looking forward to what you bring to the Executive team! We would like to Thank Craig Jones for all this hard work this past year in the roll, as organizing the junior teams during COVID was not easy. Thank you!!
Saints Alumni Features
Jana Moore
Alumni: Jana Moore (maiden name: McMillan)

Years as a Saint: 2005-2008

Position: Loose head Prop & 8

Best Memory: Too many good memories.

Saints Career Highlights: Probably winning the Provincial Championship in my final year (2008). 2005; We played most games with a squad of 13 players and after a hard-fought game, our team was clapped off the field by fans in St. Albert after playing the final minutes with 11 players.

How/why did you join the Saints: I joined because my roommate/teammate from U of C/ Brandon Barbarian Emily Minshull had started playing with the Saints. I also knew a couple of other players at the Saints who played for the U of C club team.

Any Advice for Current Player: Advice for current players would be to get involved in Calgary’s rugby community and support the club whatever way you can. While I was playing with the Saints I coached the Sir Winston Churchill Highschool girls team and I served on the Saints executive for a couple of years as a member at large. It takes so many people to make a club run and any support you can add will help give other players a great playing experience and will enhance your own experience as a member of the Saints.

Dean (Deano) Kittleson
Deano was also named 2012 Rugby Canada Volunteer of the Year. Easily the longest standing player in Saints history. Deano still dons the jersey on game day every now and then.

Playing position: Front row, all 3 positions, but mainly tight head.

Years as a Saint: Joined the Saints in 1971, so 50 years coming up

Best memory: Playing rep for Alberta. Going to Canadian Championships 2 years in a row, ‘72 & ‘73, losing to Ontario both times (beating BC twice to get there was huge!!).

Saints career highlights: Co-captained first couple of years, pack leader and team consistently competitive in league play (1sts & 2nds).

How/why did you join the Saints: Both my brothers played with the Saints in the mid-sixties and I felt a loyalty to join as well... Canucks & Irish were other options at the time but the choice was right for me.

Advice for current players: 3 main points: Commitment to training, Commitment to the game and Commitment to teammates. Rugby is a brotherhood/sisterhood and your commitment will provide lifelong friendships.

Top: 1972 Alberta vs Ontario Canadian Championships: Deano front row 3rd from right (sweet flow). Six Saints featured on the team.
Bottom Left: 1973 Alberta vs Wales: Deano back row 5th from left (still got an amazing flow). Eight Saints featured on the team.
Bottom Right: 1968 Stags vs Saints: Deano in support 4th from the left. The Legendary Dave Lillywhite is disrupting the play.
Saints Coach Profiles
Gentry Petrescu
Gentry Petrescu has been a member of the Saints family since 2014, and has coached the u11 boys for the past two years! Gentry started playing in high school at Central Memorial and played several years of men’s rugby, then rejoined the rugby community when his sons were old enough to play after taking some time away from the game. Gentry’s favourite part about coaching is watching the boys grow their skills and love for the game. His best coaching memory comes from the 2019 season, when every single player touched the ball on the play before the team scored a try! Thanks for your hard work and dedication to our u11 program, Gentry.

Dylan Dub
Dylan Dub has been a coach of our u15 and u17 boys for the past three years! Dylan joined the Saints in 2015, and won Rookie of the Year as part of our 2015 City Championship team. Dylan loves coaching, and says his favourite part about coaching the u15 and u17 boys, is watching them progress throughout the season, and seeing them move on to the senior team in the following years. Dylan has played rugby for 8 years, with his rugby journey starting at Lord Beaverbrook High School. We love having Dylan on both our coaching team and senior men’s team, as he is a truly supportive leader and always leads by example!
