A few pieces of Benedictine practice and thought:

Prayer of Jesus
(prayed at morning, noon and evening prayer at Holy Wisdom Monastery)

Holy One, our only Home,
Blessed be your name.
May your day dawn,
Your will be done,
here, as in heaven.

Feed us today and forgive us
as we forgive each other.
Do not forsake us at the test,
but deliver us from evil.

For the glory, the power
and the mercy are yours,
now and forever.
-Benedictine Women of Madison

We have a God who protects us from nothing
and sustains us in everything.

-James Finley

Scriptures for Sunday:

a time of worship that weaves scripture and music together.

Psalm 149
Matthew 13: 31-32
Luke 11: 1, 9-13

"It's the little things in life..."

Esther wrote that in her latest blog post, after describing finding some of the best hot chocolate ever at the hospital, sipping and savoring a cup, despite the 90 degree heat, and wanting to share some of that goodness with Lily - carrying a travel mug of that liquid gold back for her.

ANOTHER MOMENT TO CELEBRATE:  Mennonite Creation Care Network has awarded UMC a $4000 grant toward the installation of Solar panels on our church building!  Giving thanks for this affirmation from the broader church as we continue to find ways to care for the earth.

Walnut Springs work day.  Join us in continuing the work of removing invasive plants and preparing space for fall plantings.  Wednesday, August 3, 9-11 AM.

PSU PATHWAYS instructor Emily writes: we are in a recruitment and enrollment rush for both tutors and students (English language learners).  We are struggling with keeping up with the basic beginner students, mostly Afghan families resettling and desperately needing tutors. Can you help? Orientation and training support will be provided.  Contact Emily HERE.

...what we need is here.

And we pray, not
for new earth or heaven, but to be
quiet in heart and in eye
clear. What we need is here.
