This episode of W.I.T. from John has me thinking about how we know if a decision was a good one or not. (HINT - looking at the results from the decision isn't the answer!)

What did I learn from my son at Disney World that has an impact on my financial planning practice? Thats what I am thinking this week...
Three Things Worth Sharing

In the News – I recently learned that our client Amy Beery was featured on Madison’s CBS television station this spring, talking about what to toss and what to recycle when cleaning out your house.  Amy and her husband Chad are the owners of RedBox+ of Madison.  The focus was on spring cleaning, but the content applies at any time of year (for example, perhaps a summer cleaning project with school ending this month?!)  Check out the video online here.

Why I’m Optimistic the Problems that Matter Will Get Solved – A thought provoking but long read from the Not Boring blog by Packy McCormick about the power and inevitability of innovation; this snapshot from the article illustrates the story of the power of innovation in two sentences and a graph:

"Over the past two decades, Elon and the SpaceX team have shown that the ambitious is possible. They’ve brought down launch costs from $16k/kg to $1,500/kg, and are expected to get it even lower, to $50/kg with the launch of Starship."

Pickleball is the Wild, Wild West – Those of us who had my Dad as a gym teacher in middle school in the ‘80s were experienced pickleball players, as he believed in teaching lifelong and different skills that a kid could get from their local rec department. But until recently, if anyone else had even heard of pickleball it was considered a bastion of retirement communities. Invented in 1965, it is now the fastest growing sport in America.  Sports Illustrated reports on the growing pains the sport is having as it progresses.
(Side note – happy 79th birthday to Dad this week!)
About the 'What I'm Thinking' Series
I do a lot of reading and thinking about personal finance so that our clients don’t have to and I periodically share my thoughts through this series of short recordings & emails - which I’ve creatively titled ‘What I’m Thinking’!

Over time there will be some topics that appeal to everyone, some that will be mildly interesting and some that only folks who are really into personal finance will find useful - which is just perfect.  Take whatever is useful to you from these and ignore the rest - in fact I give you permission to just hit the delete button if it sounds Iike more work than fun to listen!

Mark Twain once said ‘I was going to write you a short letter but I didn’t have time, so I’m writing you a long one.’  That concept really resonates with me, so I work really hard to keep these episodes short and digestible.  I hope you find them interesting - please share it with others that might enjoy it as well!
