This episode of W.I.T. from John has me thinking about how rising interest rates can mean significantly increased income for people relying on interest to fund their living expenses.
Many are talking about the impact of higher inflation, but little is heard about how rising rates are a boon for those focused on investment income.
Three Things Worth Sharing
  1. Like to travel?  A recently retired airline pilot shares nine tips he uses for making air travel less stressful now that he is a passenger after being in the cockpit for 42 years.

  2. Kmart is now nearly extinct with only three stores left in the US.  A recent article gives a brief history of the rise and fall of the brand that created the Blue Light Special and stirs up nostalgia for many of us over a certain age.

  3. Just for Fun - John Tyler was the 10th President of the United States, in office from 1841 to 1845, and was also the answer to a clue in a crossword puzzle I was doing recently.  His grandson is still living today (!) in Virginia.
About the 'What I'm Thinking' Series
I do a lot of reading and thinking about personal finance so that our clients don’t have to and I periodically share my thoughts through this series of short recordings & emails - which I’ve creatively titled ‘What I’m Thinking’!

Over time there will be some topics that appeal to everyone, some that will be mildly interesting and some that only folks who are really into personal finance will find useful - which is just perfect.  Take whatever is useful to you from these and ignore the rest - in fact I give you permission to just hit the delete button if it sounds Iike more work than fun to listen!

Mark Twain once said ‘I was going to write you a short letter but I didn’t have time, so I’m writing you a long one.’  That concept really resonates with me, so I work really hard to keep these episodes short and digestible.  I hope you find them interesting - please share it with others that might enjoy it as well!
