URGENT APPEAL LETTER
February 9, 2020

Dear SHARE supporter,

Thank you for your support of SHARE Sonoma County. Thanks to you hundreds of our clients are no longer homeless or on the verge of homelessness and homeowners’ lives have been enriched by our cost-effective and life-enhancing proven model which positively impacts the homeless crisis facing Sonoma County.

Today SHARE faces an unprecedented challenge and I am asking for your help. Due to state funding reductions and the county redirecting funding to address the Joe Rodota Trail, the county is facing a $2 million shortfall for previously committed to services benefiting the homeless. As a result, SHARE’s funding has been cut by almost $100,000—a large bite out of our $474,000 budget.

This is a severe blow to SHARE and our incredible momentum in positively impacting homelessness within the current 21 cities we serve throughout the county. This loss of funding will directly impact SHARE’s ability to serve those in need.
Please click here to see the recent Press Democrat article, dated 02/07/2020 about the HOME Sonoma Leadership Council and Community Development Commission (CDC) homeless funding cuts and how they will impact
SHARE Sonoma County and other nonprofits in fiscal year 20/21.

Now in its sixth year, the SHARE Sonoma County Home Share Program uses existing housing with available bedrooms to provide affordable / attainable / immediate permanent housing that helps seniors to remain home safely, carefully matched with those in need of housing and a place to call home. SHARE’s  win/win housing solution is the most immediate and cost-effective way of reducing homelessness in Sonoma County. In addition, it has well-documented benefits for seniors that include improvements in health; alleviation of loneliness; ability to return home from a hospital or skilled nursing facility; and a sense of community and belonging.
Together we can make housing affordable in Sonoma County
You can make a life-saving difference today. PLEASE help SHARE with a donation now to make up this unprecedented loss of funding.

“It’s often been said that Sharing is Caring and Amy Appleton’s SHARE Sonoma County is a living example of that! My family has been a home provider since 2015 and we have experienced total care and concern for my uncle and also for the home seekers we have met. If I had a chance to re-work the SHARE logo, I’d wrap it in a great big heart to emphasize the care that SHARE provides!”
