BAG March Newsletter

Next Meeting (Virtual): Tue, Apr 13, 1:00-2:30 p.m.
  • BAG Member Meeting (Virtual) at 1:00-2:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month
  • Our monthly art theme for April is “Out of the Studio.”
  • Upload a photo of art on the theme to share during the meeting at this link. Uploading photos of your art to the website so Camie could share the images as a slideshow worked so well that we strongly encourage you to do this rather than hold the art up to your camera.
  • The meeting will take place on Google Meet (meeting link).
As part of our mission to connect with each other and support each other as people and artists, we are hosting virtual monthly member meetings, easily joined from home using a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

We look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting!

Mar 9 Meeting Recap

We had about 20 members join our March 9 meeting. It was great to see everyone and share the art that everyone created for our monthly theme (Spring Break).

View the variety of beautiful art submitted for our March art theme gallery here on the BAG website.

It’s not too late!! If you produced art or want to produce art and share it for our March "Spring Break" theme, you can upload your art at https://www.broomfieldartguild.org/meetings/ and click the Upload Art button.
Evening Meeting: March 24, 6-8pm @ Broomfield Community Center Kiva Room
We are experimenting with a different style of meeting. Anyone who is interested in participating will have a chance to give input on how this meeting goes and what activities we may do. If you are interested in getting together with BAG in-person, please sign up and let us know what you would be interested in doing. We are thinking this meeting can be something a little different than our virtual member meeting. We are scheduled to be in the art room, so thinking we could make some art together. The limit on participants during COVID in the art room is 9, so if we have more participants we will need to change rooms. Masks and distancing will be required. Also, all participants will be required to sign up, and to give a phone number for BCC. Sign up here.

October Member Show
October Member Show at the Front Range Library (Westminster College Hill) is a go. It sounds like everyone is on board with doing People's Choice for judging and prizes, which would save us the effort and expense of getting an outside judge. We will discuss what categories to have on a People's Choice ballot. It sounds like we have enough volunteers to do the show (moving screens, check-in, hanging, take-down, check-out, etc.), but we do need a planning team to take care of details and organize the volunteers. Kim Touy is reviewing the Member Show Planning Notebook with meticulous planning calendars and checklists to get an idea of what has to be done and when, and then April would be a good time-frame to get the Member Show Planning Team finalized. We will discuss this further at our April meeting.
BAG Art Exhibitions

Broomfield Art Guild is showing member artwork in the upstairs gallery at the new Broomfield Community Center February to April and again in August to October.

Go to the Public Art Displays tab on our website to see photos of the art on display, or go to BCC and sign in at the front desk to see the art in person!
iPie Pizza exhibit space is hosting pieces by Hannah Williams in March.

Plein Air, Urban Paint-Outs, Social/Art Meetups
Camie, Kim, and Cathy had a session of pub sketching in January and had a lot of fun, but it was too cold in February to go out for patio sketching. Now that the weather is slowly getting warmer, we hope to schedule something for later in March. Let Camie or Cathy know if you would be interested in future social sketching sessions or have a location to recommend. Please wear masks and socially distance!

December Christmas Party
Tentatively scheduled in-person at Cinzetti’s, details TBD.
Congratulations to BAG member Gerry Case, one of this year’s Heart of Broomfield award winners: “His positive impact on others has earned him the Heart of Broomfield Senior Award, which recognizes an outstanding community member over the age of 65.”
