Welcome to our first newsletter!

We hope you are keeping safe and well during the pandemic. 
Whilst these are challenging and uncertain times we will come through this together, having developed new ways of working and with a renewed focus on the strength and value of relationships.


A Message from our CEO 

Dear all,
Whilst the events of the last few months have challenged the ways of the world, it has made us ever more committed to change the way that young people are supported to leave care. We have developed new ways of working but have equally been reminded that whilst value based practice with staff going the extra mile was the old way of working, it has continued through the pandemic and will be the bedrock of working with young people in the House Project community going forward.

The Care Leavers National Movement


Over the last three months the Care Leavers National Movement have elected 18 new representatives from House Projects across the country, established ‘The Founders’ who support our new representatives and redesigned their website. They have also identified and started to challenge Local Authorities around their leaving care offer and have developed exciting partnerships with other Charities who share our ambition to improve outcomes for care leavers.

Digital Poverty Campaign

A particular drive has been their Digital Poverty Campaign. They have started a fundraising initiative to support their campaign including setting up a Just Giving Campaign and Amazon Smile

Further funding from the Department for Education!

The National House Project are one of 14 innovative projects to get continued funding from the Department for Education (DfE).

On the 24 April 2020 the DfE announced its multi-million-pound support for vulnerable children during COVID-19. The DfE has promised more than £12 million will be spent to enable 14 innovation projects to continue to support children, young people and families. This comes at a time when their vulnerability is heightened by the current pandemic.

Scotland House Projects

We are delighted to be working with Life Changes Trust to establish House Projects in Scotland.

Fife have appointed staff and are up and running and work begins in July with Midlothian and East Dunbartonshire.
