Local House Project Newsletter
 July 2022

Hello House Project family - to continue the cat theme from last month, we hope you have all managed well with the recent heatwave and that many of you are beginning to enjoy your summer holidays and have time to rest and recharge. The last month has continued to be incredibly busy for everyone around Local House Projects and for us at the National House Project HQ. In this month's newsletter, you will see we have welcomed more Local House Projects into the community, which means more staff to get to know and meet. Many young people have moved into their homes over the last month and some House Projects have welcomed new cohorts, with young people starting their House Project journey. As mentioned last month if any House Project has something they wish to share in this newsletter such as a good news story or some information that may be useful for your House Project colleagues then please pass them on to one of us. See you all soon.

Introduction to House Project Workshops
The 6th-8th of July saw various House Projects come together for the three-day Introduction to the House Project. The three days consisted of various sessions which aimed to cover the history of the House Project, authentic participation, our ORCHIDS framework and the fidelity of the House Project. All three days were supported by reps from the Care Leavers National Movement.

Feedback from the sessions has been hugely positive and we are hoping to run the workshops again in the Autumn.
Paid volunteer roles with the British Youth Council
British Youth Council have announced that applications have opened for the next cohort of forward-thinking, diverse and passionate ambassadors. They are looking for young people enthusiastic about addressing youth unemployment and the barriers to employment that young people face. This is a paid role open to young people aged 16 – 24 from across England.
The Future Voices Group come from a diverse range of backgrounds that face greater barriers to accessing work. United by a desire to influence change within the system so young people no longer have to face intense challenges in their journey to finding work. Please share with your networks and consider any young people who are looking to grow and commit to this exciting British Youth Council/Youth Futures Foundation programme. They value and celebrate the unique experiences and contributions of their members so we’d love to hear from young people who haven’t done anything like this before!

The deadline is Sunday 31st July

Following this young people from Manchester and East Dunbartonshire House Projects have now been trained as Peer Mentors and will be supporting new young people in their next cohorts. Partnership 4 Young London who helped design the program and has helped train young people will also be evaluating the program with this first group of Peer Mentors.

The next Peer Mentoring Training Date is 26th September - Venue TBC.
