As we prepare this newsletter we know that many have had to cancel or postpone their 2021 travel plans, as we have had to do as well in these uncertain times.  For those that were already planning a trip to Ireland or Iona, we'd like to extend an invitation to join us, for our Sacred Ireland Pilgrimage, or our Iona, Scotland Pilgrimage.  Our reservations are secure and strongly beckoning.  There are discounts for those that can join us for both and our cancellation policy will remain generous throughout next year.

The photos in this "Iona" Edition newsletter were all taken during a sojourn on the island in 2018.  Iona, Scotland is a tiny island off the southwest coast of Mull in the Inner Hebrides. It is only 1.5 miles wide by 3 miles long, with a population of around 120 permanent residents.  One resident of which will be our Pilgrimage walking guide!

For centuries, Iona has had a special place in the heart of many around the world.  And some modern pilgrims, having experienced the wild ocean breezes and spiritually palpable "thin places", where it is said that the time between now and eternity comes together, return for refreshment year after year.

Covid-19 - we will be consulting the authorities in the UK and Ireland and communicate what the travel rules are in the months prior to departing for our Pilgrimages.  Proof of vaccination and a possible negative Covid test are likely to be required for both our May and September Pilgrimages.  If you'd like to see what the requirements at the moment are for Scotland in particular, visit the link here.  The U.S. is currently listed as "Amber" on their list.


The Beauty of the Island, sun, and sea, and stone... 

Everywhere one turns on this wonderful isle, one is greeted by natural beauty.  Our guests will have plenty of quiet time to reflect on their own around the times that are scheduled.  We know that you will find the timing and rhythm of our journey a wonderful balm to the challenges of the past few years.


Farewell beautiful isle, until we meet again ... 

Clear, clean water is everywhere on Iona, and after a good (often) rain, the damp, green grasses and plants glisten.  The flowers below are believed to be "Ivy Leaved Toadflax" : ). They are seen here discovered growing on a wall of the ruins of the 14th century Augustinian Nunnery, one of our favorite places to spend time... 


Having sat with the raindrops, cool sea breezes and lovely quiet of Iona, one's heart becomes full and ready to return home with thankfulness for the simple joys of life ...
