Welcome back!

We are so happy to have everyone back at Sandaraska. Hopefully you all have had the opportunity to get in and get set up on you site after this chilly winter. The Victoria Day long weekend is coming up, so we have some announcements!
Activities and Events
As we start to plan a recreation calendar, we have scheduled some more outdoor movies for this summer! As of right now, we have booked:
  • Sunday May 22nd
  • Friday July 29th
We will announce on our Facebook the details of each screening closer to, so be sure to follow us there!
Social Committee
The social committee is looking for volunteers to help make the events this year as memorable as ever! Jackie and Ray will be hosting the first meeting to get everyone organized before they step back as heads. If you are interested in getting involved and seeing the park put on activities that you want, then come on out! Teens are welcome to help run events for community services hours as well.  They will be meeting at La Barn this Saturday May 21st at 1 PM. Remember, the committee is only as good as the volunteers! Thanks everyone.

While you're at La Barn, you can check out what we have been working on!
Over the winter, the crew did an overhaul of La Barn. This included new windows, a back patio (perfect for a BBQ or gills!), and a whole new kitchen area. Here's some pictures:
Season fees
For all returning residents, please remember that your season fees are due by May 31st. All new residents who are just joining us this year, your fees are due 30 days from when we got you booked in. Anything outstanding past the due date will collect 1.5% interest on June 1st. The office is currently open 9 AM to 5 PM, seven days a week.

Spring Clean-up
As the weather starts to get nicer and everyone begins returning to the park, we want to give plenty of notice to spring cleaning. We will be going around the week following the Victoria Day long weekend (May 23rd) to ensure everyone has taken the time to tidy up their lots and trailers. We will contact anyone who may need to give a little bit of extra attention to their site. We will also be doing a review to make sure all metal sheds, tarp sheds, and storage trailers have been removed from each site, so please do this if you have not yet done so!

License of Occupation
We would love for everyone to take a moment to review the 2022 License of Occupation, specifically Schedule 1. The rules apply to everyone in the park, so please remind your children as well (remember, you are responsible for their behaviour).  Click here to access the PDF
Gypsy moth spray
We are confirmed to be signed up for the property to be sprayed to reduce the impact of Gypsy moths. We unfortunately do not have any information as to when this will happen as it is out of our hands. The spray is being handled by a group of collaborating forces and we are one of the many properties being sprayed in the area. It's unclear how much notice we will be given as to when the spray will take place as the ever-changing weather can have an impact.

They have confirmed with us that the park will not need to be evacuated, but they recommend that everyone tries to stay indoors for an hour after the property is sprayed. The chemical they spray (BTK) is a naturally occuring bacteria found in soil. It is not enormously hygienic, but it is also not known to be harmful.

If we are given any more information, we will likely post on Facebook as it is faster for us to spread it there than drafting a newsletter, but we will do our best!

Sports Court in Oak Grove
We are in the queue for the work down here to be finished. There is still beach volleyball and horseshoes going in as well. We are bored of looking at the wonderful dirt circle just as much as you!
From the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority:
The GRCA have been busy revamping their website to better accommodate the purchase of passes for the Ganaraska Forest trails. They have gone fully online! Physical passes will no longer be available for purchase at the Sandaraska Park office. You can visit their website here to purchase your daily and yearly passes.

Once you have purchased your pass, they will email you a QR code that you can either print and carry with you, or have available on your phone if you meet a conservation officer while in the forest.

This will be quite the change for our seasoned trail riders, but we look forward to helping the GRCA with this transition. This will allow them to focus on the important parts of forest conservation and trail maintenance!
