Free tickets - Surrey vs Northants this Friday

It was great to see so many of the SMCC family at the Oval for the inaugural Hundred game, many thanks to the tickets kindly provided by Surrey CCC. Surrey have also offered us 50 free tickets for the Royal London One Day Cup match vs Northants on Friday 30th July at The Oval. It’s an 11am start.

These will be made available on a first come, first served basis to members. In order to claim your seat, please email Alexis Fuller, alexisfuller@hotmail.co.uk, who will be able to send you an electronic ticket.

Appeal for trade skills

As you are probably aware, we are in a situation where we have a deteriorating pavilion and a plan to build a new facility. As such, when maintenance issues do arise, we want to minimise the outlay where we can. David Brown (our junior sponsor and Sunday 2s skipper) has been fantastic and has kindly fixed numerous issues over the years but is also very busy.

We were hoping to put out an appeal within the club for a small group of people with trade skills who are happy to be contacted in the event of pavilion maintenance issues, as they arise. Currently, two areas in need of repair is a collapsing floor in the Men's WCs and some roof leaks highlighted by the recent heavy rain.

If you are willing to help (either on a volunteer or mates rates basis), please let us know.

Senior Roundup

The Men's 4s made it five wins from the last five weeks with a 26 run victory against Addiscombe. Jamie Evans followed up last weeks 82 with 73 and he was ably partnered by David Parker (46) in a total of 185-6. The M3s have been enjoying a similarly purple patch of form, beating Battersea Ironsides by four wickets, Sahib Singh with 67. The M6s prevailed in a low scoring contest at Mayow against Catford & Cyphers. A scorching week gave assistance to spin duo, Sundar Viswanathan (9-2-20-3) and Karthik Herath (6.4-0-15-5) as C&CCC were dismissed for 112 and we snuck over the line, eight wickets down.

The M1s and M2s both lost to Old Hamptonians, Oli Nicholls (14-4-39-4) the only performance of note. The M(S)5s lost by one run against Addiscombe and the M(K)5s lost by 51 runs to Blue Star

The Friendly XI drew vs Southbank whilst rain prevented the completion of all Sunday sides. On Monday, the Strikers beat the Addiscombe Mitres by 68 runs in the T20 cup, Shaf Malik (4-0-12-4) making early inroads.
Full match reports are available on the Facebook Group (where available)
The lead has switched hands again with John Ormesher topping the table of the Fantasy SMCC Cricket League It's remains tight at the top with Humphrey Craven and Raph Pendergast close behind.

Week 12 MVP was Karthik Herath with his five-for in the M6s win against Catford & Cyphers.
