Welcome to the Streatham & Marlborough Sweep (SMS)
Well... we got there... the last weekly SMS of the season as the league games are completed. Unfortunately no promotions but also no relegations and more cricket played with more players than any season in our history. Decent achievement that. The SMS will be back sporadically when information needs passing on and friendly cricket will still be happening over the next three weeks for those not quite ready to hang the boots up just yet.

Thanks to all for reading these missives and I hope they have provided some useful bits every now and again. Till next time...
Senior Roundup

Vinay Patel took a hat-trick in a fantastic spell of bowling to help the M(K)5s avoid the drop in a relegation battle with Bexleyheath. Having put Bexleyheath in the field tight bowling restricted them before Vinay, who ended with game with 9-2-17-5, ripped through the middle and lower order. Jamie Fryer also took 6.4-3-5-3 as Bexleyheath were dismissed for 126. Nerves were settled early and the chase proved comfortable, anchored home by Robin Pharoah (53*).  The M6s pushed the eventual champions, Sidcup, all the way by also convincingly beating Bexleyheath by eight wickets. Fraser Knapp taking 8-2-27-4 and Baqa Haider (56). Baqa passing 1000 runs for the season in that innings - a mighty achievement.

There were losses elsewhere in the league but all sides remain safely mid-table. As a quick run through: M1s lost to Old Whitgiftians by 77 runs, M2s lost to Woking & Horsell by 47 runs, M3s lost to Banstead by 3 wickets, M4s lost to Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian by 39 runs (Alex Berry 8-0-31-4, Billy Dale 53) and M(S)5s lost to Old Wimbledonians by 5 wickets

In the friendlies, the W1s beat Hampstead by 8 wickets, the Sunday M1s beat Eynsford by 4 wickets, the Sunday M2s won by 4 wickets (Yatmund Christiansen 60, Billy Dale 73*) and the Midweek XI lost by 6 wickets to Battersea Eagles.

To round up final league positions:

W1s        2nd / 7 (an excellent achievement having been promoted last season)
M1s        4th / 10
M2s        7th / 10
M3s        3rd / 10
M4s        6th / 10
M(S)5s   5th / 10
M(K)5s   8th / 9
M6s        2nd / 9
Full match reports are available on the Facebook Group (where available)
The Fantasy SMCC Cricket League went down to the wire but John Ormesher was able to retain his narrow lead and take the title. Well done John! He narrowly beat Raph Prendergast with Humphrey Craven in third.
Week 18 MVP was Vinay Patel with an excellent 9-2-17-5 in the Men's Kent 5s victory against Bexleyheath. Well done Vinay!

Over the season, Sahib Singh (783 points) was the top batter, Shaf Malik (872) the top bowler, Neneto Davis (778) the top allrounder and David Parker (622) the top keeper.
