The GLBC Gazette provides weekly updates of what is happening at the State Capitol.

FROM OUR CHAIR
Today marks the start of the 2022 Georgia General Assembly. For the next forty days, members of the House and Senate will meet, deliberate, debate, negotiate, and advocate for public policy they believe represents the interests of all Georgians.
With this being a crucial election year, the stakes are higher. Lawmakers intend on introducing an array of measures to include cityhood, elections, guns, abortion, to critical race theory. We cannot allow fear, misinformation, and divisiveness to drive our state's legislative priorities. Our focus needs to be towards improving the lives of Georgians and that is what the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC) intends on doing.
This month the GLBC will introduce legislation reflective of our priorities where freedom, justice, equity, and opportunity dictate our actions.
Yet, our success at the Gold Dome cannot be accomplished alone. We need the people to become informed, and more importantly, be engaged. Your voice is essential to lift up public policy that liberates and empowers. Together, we can transform our state.
I hope you take the time to visit us at your State Capitol or listen virtually. This state and its people deserve representation based on our highest virtues and ideals.
Let's get to work.
Yours in Service,
Senator Tonya P. Anderson
Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, Chair
