Mon Valley Paws attended the Trunk or Treat event held on the walking track in the Monessen City Park. Over 400 treats were distributed to kids and pets. The lines were long with parents and their fully bedecked children on the walk and they appeared to enjoy the incentive and creative Halloween displays, not to mention all the goodies. Three exhibits were chosen as best, The Wizard of Oz characters, The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, and the Big Mouth. MVP's House of Frankenstein won an honorable mention. It was fun for all!

Mon Valley Paws thanks Pet Supplies Plus for hosting the second annual Halloween Pet Costume Contest. The setting displayed a black tree adorned with spooky squeaky toys standing next to a lightning struck home at 1313 Mockingbird Lane. It was the House of Frankenstein surrounded by mummies, monsters, scary pumpkins, ghosts, and a talking doorbell. Overlooking the scene was a life size Frankenstein monster joined by friends Dracula and the Wolfman completing the mood. A variety of large and small dogs came adorned in unique, cute, and scary costumes competing for prizes. The winners were as follows:
Most Creative: Wilson the Chihuahua, as a chia pet all green and leafy.
Classic: Sophie wore a purple witch’s hat and dress and was ready to ride her broom.
Funniest: Tootie’s back had a saddle and mean looking cowboy in a yellow hat to ride off into the sunset.
Group: What a pair! Jasper and Missy were clad as Beetlejuice and Lydia. Looks like they just walked off the picture set.
Scariest: Violet the puppy displayed her terrifying green toothed monster outfit to chase away everybody.
Best Overall: Bria the psycho bride! This little Chihuahua was fearsome from the top of her bridal crown down to her painted toes.
Mon Valley Paws would like to extend a huge thank you to Studio K Nails & Tanning Salon and Mary Beth Desak for hosting a Sabika Jewelry sale where a portion of sales went to MVP. The online party is still live if you weren't able to make it! Click below to shop!

Twinkie Pawelec and Elle Veschio Pawelec
Twinkie is a 13-year-old Shihpoo, a Poodle Shih Tzu mix. He was named for the three white spots of hair on his belly like the twinkie cream filling! Lol, everyone that meets Twinkie falls in love with him! He has such a wonderful personality!!! Ellie is a three-year-old Pomeranian who was born in Florida and was adopted into the Veschio family right before the start of the pandemic. Unfortunately, Ellie lost both her parents in less than a year. Twinkie is now with her big brother. Ellie will not let Twinkie out of her sight, even as he tried to blow out his birthday candle. With Twinkie’s easy-going personality and Ellie’s spunky charm, they make quite the pair!!
