COP27 Global Day of Climate Justice
Saturday, November 12th, 1p.m.
Matt Cohen Park (SE Corner of Bloor and Spadina)

Worldwide, devastating floods, droughts, wildfires and increasingly intense storms show that the climate crisis is happening now. Yet 26 annual international climate meetings (COPs) have failed to halt the rising carbon emissions driving the crisis. This year, at COP27, meetings are taking place in Egypt amid new reports warning that time is running out. Climate activists from Egypt and other countries in Africa and the Arab World have called for a "COP27 Global Day of Climate Justice." Demands include calls to release 60,000 political prisoners in Egyptian jails. In solidarity here in Toronto, attendees will march to different key locations (Christia Freeland’s Office, CDEV - public owner of TMX, RBC and Queen’s Park), stopping at each for a short speech, some interaction and an action call-out. Come add your voice!  Event organized by Toronto 350.org, Egyptian Canadian Coalition for Democracy and Toronto Health Save.

Candles for COP27 - Vigil for Earth
Sunday, November 13, 2022 - 5:00 p.m.
Congregate at Trinity-St. Paul's United Church and Centre for Faith, Justice and the Arts, 427 Bloor St West (at Spadina)

From November 6th – 18th of this year, world leaders will gather at the COP27 conference in Egypt to discuss their plans to address global heating. ClimateFast and For the Love of Creation are holding a candlelight vigil to reflect and share our concerns and hopes for real progress on climate action at COP27.   The gathering will begin at Trinity St. Paul’s where you are invited to write postcards to deliver to Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Finance.  At 5:30 p.m. folks will walk to Matt Cohen Park with candles and then leave to walk to Chrystia Freeland’s office at 344 Bloor St W at 6 p.m.
