Tanya Sam Inspires FAU College of Nursing Students During Black History Month Program

Oncology nurse and tech mogul Tanya Sam joined Dean Safiya George in an interactive forum to share her journey and experiences with students from the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing as part of Florida Atlantic University’s month-long celebration of Black History Month.
 
Students filled the College's atrium on the Boca Raton campus to listen to the tech professional discuss her insights on nursing, entrepreneurship, professional development and career transition as well as answer students’ questions. Read More

To Get Middle-aged Women to Eat More Protein Consider Diet Coaching

Most adults don’t even get the minimum recommended dietary allowance of 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. Inadequate protein intake is especially problematic for middle-aged women because they typically have less muscle mass than men and are at greater risk of developing sarcopenia, the age-related loss in skeletal muscle.

A study led by Florida Atlantic University’s Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing is the first to examine the impact of per-meal protein prescription and nutrition education with and without diet coaching to improve protein intake among middle-aged women. Read More

FAU's Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing recently published its annual Transforming Care magazine. The magazine’s theme of “Thriving Through Change” highlights the tremendous efforts and accomplishments of our faculty, staff and students, and how the COVID-19 pandemic showed the world just how invaluable nurses are to our healthcare systems. Read More

Last month, the FAU College of Nursing Sigma IOTA XI at-large chapter and the FAU Student Nurses Association team represented at the Make-A-Wish Southern Florida Walk for Wishes 5K Walk/Run in Broward County.
PTBSN students on the Davie campus supported the American Heart Association's Go Red for Heart Month initiative in February.
A study abroad academic service-learning program is being offered this summer in Armenia, Columbia. To view the program description and requirements, click here.
Happy Spring Break, Owls! No classes will be held from March 5 to 13. The University will remain open.
