NONPROFIT SPOTLIGHT
Big Brothers Big Sisters
of Northeast Mississippi
We can all agree that every child has the potential to succeed and deserves the opportunity to thrive. Many children, however, lack the support system necessary to navigate the obstacles life throws at them. Having just one stable, nurturing relationship can make all the difference, and that is why Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Mississippi is so important.

BBBS matches adult volunteers ("Bigs") with children ages 6 to 18 ("Littles"). Through these monitored matches, young people learn to see the world from a different perspective - one that is positive and encouraging. The program, which has been in existence for more than 100 years, holds itself accountable for every child's ability to develop the following:
- higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships
- avoidance of risky behaviors
- educational success

On Thursday, October 31, BBBS of NEMS is hosting a Meet and Greet from 4:00-7:30 at Starbucks at 3360 North Gloster in Tupelo. The purpose of this event is "to reintroduce Big Brothers Big Sisters and its fabulous participants to the public, to give Bigs and Littles a chance to get together on Halloween in costume, and to drink some of the most delicious coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in town!" What fun!
