VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Tupelo Misfits Leo Club
Volunteer Northeast Mississippi recently hosted a service project for MS Project Package. Many volunteers were needed, but three days prior to the project, only two volunteers had signed up.
An email to Rebecca Burg, sponsor of the Tupelo Misfits Leo Club, was all it took. "The Leos are on it!" Rebecca said in her response. And indeed they were. Along with the two initial volunteers, the Leos worked a table at Kroger on Main Street in Tupelo for 8 hours, where they informed shoppers of the important work that MS Project Package does and of the ways they could help. At the end of the day, the pay-off was tremendous. Shoppers had donated more items than one pick-up truck could hold to ship to our troops overseas and more than $1200 to cover the cost of shipping the care packages.

The Leo Club volunteered at the MS Project Package table at Kroger.
So who are the Leos? The Leo Club, a subgroup of the Lions Club, is a nonprofit volunteer organization for teens 12-18. The letters in the name stand for Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity. The Leo Club started in 1957 in Pennsylvania, and it now exists in 150 countries with more than 7,200 members worldwide. While carrying out projects of all types to better the community, these young people develop leadership skills that will prepare them for a lifetime of vital contributions to the world around them.

The Leos collected toys to donate to the LeBonheur Clinic in Tupelo.
Thank you, Leos, for your outstanding service to the community!
